Does anyone have a couple headrests laying around? I want to take them apart and try to integrate a couple of fans into them to blow on the kids. The last few years I have put up a clothes bar with 2 fans attached to them with zip ties, plugged into my inverter. The problems I have is the fans get kicked by the kids, and block a bit of the view out the back. And now with my spare tire up in the air, its gonna be worse. So I wanted to tear one apart and hopefully get a couple fans in them, with a switch i control, not the kids reaching out and screwing with them. I would use the ones I have, but put in my 3rd row every once in awhile and use all of them.

Anyone know where I can get some powerful fans to put in them, maybe 4-6 inch ones. And yes, ive thought about front row passengers getting their hair sucked into them, but I wont have a problem with me, and I have a passenger in the front rarely.

Wow, you and your "NAMBLA friends" must get really sweaty while parked in the high school parking lot if you need fans.

Shanna - does your AC still have problems keeping it cool in the summer? I thought that issue was fixed up last fall?

Have you thought about mounting the fans to the grab handles at the front of the rear doors? This would be more solid and provide better airflow?

Pot/pancake fans work well, are relatively quiet, powerful, cheap and available at PC stores like Fry's. Unfortunately most are 12V, so that eliminates all of the silly, complex, wiring, inverters, etc, that you value so highly.:hillbilly:

this is what I have going on now. These are 120v, but I can can use 12V too. Like today, I was parked outside for 3 hours, get the kids in and its stagnant hot air in the 2nd row. The fans I have now cant be felt more than 18 inches away. My truck cools fine, blows cold air all the time thanks to Tools and the fan clutch fluid replacement, but it takes time to cool the whole cabin down, and rarely are my trips long enough to do that.

I can keep the configuration I have now, I just need some fans that can actually be seen blowing my kids hair. I'll cruise by Fry's Electronics this week.

And what the hell is "NAMBLA friends"? Moron.

It takes HP to push air, going to need good fans. Or just shave the kids hair and don't worry about it?:hillbilly:

Can't help you there, I have only heard of it once. IIRC, you were breathlessly babbling something about that being the other group that you actively involved with?:o

I need to set something like this up myself. The air conditioning works fine in the front, but the kids sitting in the middle and back seats are toast.

a.mus.ed was so proud of himself for knowing the answer, good job dude. Ive never watched South Park, so I wouldnt know.

So now the 12V fans wont be the ticket? Any other ideas? Im actually looking for 2 reasons, for the kids to cool off, and then my buddy in CA(the murdered out cruiser on Golden Spike '10) has built a drawer system, and he has 2 super-flow(I think thats what they are called) that he is planning on stacking and mounting along side the box between the tailgate and wheel well. Ive talked to him about the heat but he's dead set on mounting them there. So I have been persuading him into a fan install, he wasnt going to do anything at all.

Any other good places to check out for small fans?
