Ok i tried to search this up found a few articles but I have the following problem. My tach went out came here read a little and replaced the igniter, that did not work so I buy a complete dash unit replace the igniter because it was bad, put the new to me dash in, and it worked for about a day then went out again.

thoughts?

I always start by chasing down all ground point’s related or unrelated to the issue. FSM is in resources along with the Electrical Wiring Diagram manual. I am of no other use because I can barely read the schematics myself.

Please state the year/model/engine.

1993 80 series, sorry about that, gas engine
The tach is fed directly from the igniter connector I2 pin 4. Solid black wire that runs to the combination meter connector C11 pin 8.
You're going to want to verify continuity between those 2 points and check the pins and crimps for corrosion.
There is nothing else that would effect that circuit without manifesting to other items. If the igniter was faulty, the engine wouldn't run. If the ground on the igniter was faulty, the engine wouldn't run. If the +12 feeding the combination meter was faulty, other gauges would not work. If the ground for the combination meter was faulty, other gauges would not work.
