I am looking for a pulley set that will work on the 3b that will allow me to run two belts like the MOD Defenders. It is an 82 with no power anything.

Any ideas??

TIA,
Justin

There is a different pulley set up for power steering and air con.

If you can find those then you will have more pulleys.

I found an air cond pulley set up from GandScruiser parts. But the pulleys are extremely rare.

I would pull the stock one and head down to the junkyard and search about with a tape measure. Then when you find something maybe a machine shop can help you get it attached.

Toyota want 300 plus for this pulley if you can get it.

Look closely at your crank pulley. The older ones only have two bolt holes for the puller and are not really good to add pulleys to. The newer ones have six bolt holes and will easily take additional pulleys. The change over was in '82 some time.

i seem to remember changing the pulley wheels from the old 83 bj60 to the low km 3B out of a bj42 i think it was. i think the 3B from the 42 had a single wheel and the 60 had a double and the offset was different as well. maybe you could add a spacer and a single wheel onto it.

The 82, iirc, has the holes tapped to take the PS pulley that was used in 1983.

The 81 BJs had a pulley that can be modified to add another pulley to quite easily... if you're careful, you can add a 22R waterpump pulley to it.

Thanks all...

I appreciate all the feedback...

I am a bit slow on the uptake this morning... I am not looking to add more pulleys but rather run two belts on the current number of pulleys. i.e a crank pulley with two channels.

Sorry for not being more clear.

That's what we're telling you. There is two crank pulleys BOTH have only one groove. To get additional grooves you need the right crank pulley and then you bolt additional ones to the front of the crank pulley.

"B" series engines had as many as 3 belts on the front, altenator on the base pulley, A/C on the next one and power steering on the last one.

The A/C and power steering used bolt on pulleys to the main crank pulley. There was never, at least as far as I know, a multiple belt crank pulley available

And the light bulb turns on... Thanks!

Justin
