1st Official Club Meeting 2/17/2007 This is a Saturday and will start at 4 pm.

I have 3 local Columbus Businesses that are willing to host us, I'm going to visit each location and make a determination.

Proposed Agenda Items

Election for Permanent Officers (the ones now are temporary pending a vote by the club)

Club Run (GSMTR, Coal Mine, etc.) where it will be and which one we want to attend.

Finalizing our local Calendar (wrench fest, pig roast, etc.)

Discuss new business as proposed by the members.

This thread will be an ongoing discussion till it's time.

If anything needs to be added...chime in guys...it's our club. :D

I'll do my best to be there.

Guys,

I'm going to be moving up to Secretary for the TLCA (lookin' that way) and will not be able to dedicate the time here like I have in the past. Trying to get all the ducks in a row so there's a club still when I take over new duties.

If the current lack of participation continues..this club will shrink or go away. It's up to you all what happens.

If no one steps up, then all this effort will be for not..

Either way, I'm fine with the results..:D

Good for you Mark. Congratulations.

That said, I think it is a bit presumptuous to assume that we are having a "lack of participation."

I think we participate just fine via the interweb. Considering that we have very many different people living in different locations around the state with very different business/school/life schedules. We do what we can it seems.

For example, why is it that we from the north always travel to Cbus? Why can't you all come up here for once? We have restaurants, bars, etc here. We have ample wrenching space here? I've suggested it many times, but no one has come up.

It seems, for example, I'm (we are) the one always traveling to hang out with YOU guys. I don't mind. I like everyone very much and every one is very pleasant, knowledgeable, and kind.

I don't think at all that the club will shrink nor go away. We'll get together when we can; we'll hang out via MUD as always; we'll wrench when we can; and we'll wheel when we can as well. I'm not so worried about the club disappearing. In fact, I think it will get stronger and better.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we all appreciate the effort that you have undertaken to get us back recognized with TLCA and all of your hard work with the website and everything else that you do.

I think we will be fine even if you are not as active as you were and you have to devote more time to TLCA duties.

best regards.

You raise good points Onur. And geographical location has alot to do with this I suppose to make it manageable for the Cinci Guys.

Time will tell what will happen down the road and I would personally support a 3 way split in this club by the Northwest, Central and Southern regions. I know some of the guys that have recently joined asked why we don't split and I was against it at first, but now I'm not so sure.

My opinion on this won't matter regardless..it will happen if it's meant too.

I will try to be invloved as much as I can with the club. But as for probably most of us we all have other priorities. I think if we can set up a calender(2007) it can help most of us out with our schedules. You know set trailrides maybe for the last weekend of the month, wrenchfest quarterly blah blah blah...Without you folks my 40 would still be broke down in the garage, well maybe...Or I would have been alot poorer

Your right Marty, everyone has family, priorities and this is a car club after all. Time is everything which fuels the debate for splitting the club IMO. Texas does this with the Lone Star Land Cruisers in their 3 different chapters and they all seem to get together for the Roundup and enjoy each other's company.

We'll see what happens :)

Well Texas is 3x the size of OH.....If the club splits up into groups, there will be 3 members in each section. I don't think splitting is the answer. Cincy has an active club I guess Rice on the Rocks. Club or no club I'm still gonna hang out with you bitches. ;)

I don't either honestly Marty (right now) but it may down the road. You guys are why I'm hear in the first place and wish we could address Onur's concerns better.

We'll have to discuss more at the Christmas Gathering with Onur on how we can accomplish this...first thought is to have the Northern Guys pick something they want to host for next year and like you said, get the Calendar Set so we all know what to expect.

Growin' pains...gotta love em'...I do honestly..sign we are moving in the right direction.

Just out of curiousity, can we have official club meetings by using
conference calls or similar communication??

I think that would save the travel delimma. I completely understand how people do not want to drive or spend the money on gas.

This thread has been up less than 12 hours, lets give people time to participate. I check this board as much as possible, but I will miss days, or two, or three :D

Karl, I'll look into it, there are some services out there but not sure which ones are free.

I didn't mean the post, the club in general. Everyone has a boat load goin' on and we just need to get some of the newer guys more involved. Their younger and with less commitments than us old men;)

I agree with Onur. Way to rep the NE ohio boys!

My intent with the club would only be for wheelin only. I am far too busy for the other gatherings unless it was local. I can walk 750 feet from my house and fix build or wrench on anything I may need to. I enjoy CHALLENGING offroading and the TLCA events. This is why I am in the TLCA.

Is this heading right back to the roots of what happened to the Mid Ohio club???

I will be glad to help financially to help the club. I dont want to pick up trash on weekends and do community service to have a sign on the road with BBS on it. That is what the jeep club does as a EVENT. I will sit on route x and blow holes in passers by litterbugs with my rifle if you would hold a event, that would be fun, really fun. On sundays they have meetings about picking up trash, t shirts and going to local car shows with their trail ready POS. The things I see they do right is they go to wellsville often, MOAB paragon slade Ky etc about every month as a group all or in part sometimes informally.

What does everyone want from being in involved from this club? The answers to this question are not clear and is why the direction is in limbo.

Thanks for sharin' now why don't you guys up North form you own club or just go your own way? Pretty damn simple if you ask me.

Okay, since Kirk and Onur won't respond..I'll say it here.

Guys, you wheel alot, more than us right now and we look up to you for that. The TLCA is a Car Club, not a wheeling only club. It can be both, but it's a Car Club first and foremost.

Form your own club if your frustrated with this one. Doesn't mean we can't hang out, share a rivalry, wheel together when we can or anything. It only takes 4 to do it.

So do it, and make us look even better in Ohio.

I've been at work and commuting home, so I haven't been able to respond immediately like I usually do between the hours of 7pm and 6am.

:flipoff2:

I don't think there really is a need to form another club or to have a rivalry or anything like that whatsoever. It is what it is; we are separated by geography and life. Nothing more simple to it. And sometimes, I don't want to drive to Cbus; and sometimes you all might not want to drive to Akron or Cleveland. That's cool.

I don't have grand designs for our club--we are not the Rising Sun folks, or the Lone Star folks. We are the OH folks and we do things our way, whatever that way happens to be at a certain point or time.

And I am perfectly cool with that.

Hell, I don't really even need to be a part of a club to wheel, or wrench, or eat brats and drink beer (though for the last two, Warren's presence is essential for it to be a good time.....:grinpimp: ). I'm a part of the club because I enjoy hanging with you guys when we do. And when we don't I still think we have a good crew of peeps.

Anyway, it is what it is. I'm not fretting about this nor am I too interested in drawing this out any more than it already has been.

Gotta eat some chicken nuggets and tater tots!

:flipoff2:

I was talking about my appology yesterday about the mixed up wheeling plans.

Agreed. Move on. :)

So all of Michigans COMCAST internet customers were down yesterday and look what happens.

I find it ironic that several folks spent a lot of time and effort getting this club recognized, now before we have a meeting there is talk of disbanding or splitting.

The other 40 in Michigan is in a field so I am still 3 short to have a chapter.

Anyhow. We have a lot of good dudes. Seriously good dudes. You guys have saved me tons of money helping me fix crap, and hopefully I have paid some back with comic relief and heat clogging food.

I wont bother to echo everyone elses coments but lets at least try to have one meeting.

I will try to make the time to come down for it noting its 4 hours each way and my wife is due on Feb. 25.

BTW I just bought the winning numbers for the Mega Millions drawing for tomorrow so I might be off line for a few days.
