Thought I would start a new thread here instead of hijacking RCLC's post. I know some of us would be interested in getting together this fall for a light trail run and get together around Mohican. I figure lets see the interest and then list some dates. @MeefZah @Jdc1 @pb4ugo @aging fleet @dbarrett. Feel free to tag others that might be interested.

I’d be interested depending on the date. My weekends get booked fast.

At this point I'd say push it to early October for some nice fall colors. I'm available any weekend, and could take a day off through the week if that would be preferable. Depending on where people are coming from we could meet in Danville or Loudonville. Route is about 120 miles and is mainly scenic gravel roads with a few destination stops (old bridges and such) with about 5 miles of easier "4hi" off road scattered throughout. Can work in a river crossing if there is interest. Can add a couple technical sections that require some 4lo if there is interest . I'm not sure how gnarly you guys want to get with vintage machines. Breakfast beforehand or late lunch after maybe?

I might be interested in joining to meet some local cruiser heads. I'm located up towards Cleveland.

No one really stepped up and gave dates, and we are about to be done with fall colors, so I am going to do a gravel road and light offroad "trail run" this weekend, suitable for any stock 4x4. I am on call for work both days but I'm close enough and cell service is good enough over most of the area that I will chance it but be aware that I may have to abort part way through to respond to a call in.

I can do either Saturday 10-25 or Sunday 10-26 but if no one responds with a preference, I will just do Saturday.

I will be at the Loudonville Marathon, 3052 Rt 3, Loudonville, OH 44842 Saturday at 9:00 am
in a silver GX460.

Route is give or take 100-120 miles depending on conditions, and usually is around 4-5 hours with a few stops. All are welcome. I am a stickler for punctuality so I will be heading out at 9:00 am; if you are coming and especially if you tend to run late then let me know so I can wait for you - otherwise if you roll in unannounced at 9:01 I will not be there...

Maybe see some of you there...

Oh man. I’m going to be up in that area for a mountain bike race on Saturday, otherwise I’d totally be in for this. :(

I can move it to Sunday if you want ... ?
Unfortunately I have afternoon plans on Sunday afternoon back in Columbus that I think would be cutting too close. Appreciate you doing this. Hopefully you get some other takers.

I wish I could….sons last football game as a freshman is tomorrow. Kids are with me as well through Sunday. Definitely up for some sort of fall crawl in Ohio if there is a chance. Teenagers take up a lot of time.

Well it was just me, which was perfectly fine. Heater blowing and seats blazing and windows down to soak in the beautiful decay of Autumn. Lots of empty dirt roads, a river crossing, a few creek crossings, some abandoned bridges and one dam, lots of leaves changing, Amish fry pies and some homemade jerky. Got home in time to receive my Hamilton Android Auto module from UPS so I'm going to install that tonight.

Great pictures! I saw all the trees and leaves while racing through the Mohican state park on my mountain bike. Ok well sort of, I was a little cross eyed as I wasn’t trained too well for the race.

Edit: you have a gpx file of the route you took?

I'm sorry, I do not. Embarrassingly (for someone of my age) I do not really know how to do that. I only use GPS to know where I am at any moment in time; I navigate using paper maps. This route is just all in my head.

Also did we pass each other on Hwy 3 that morning, near Mohican? I passed a dark colored VW wagon with a mountain bike on the passenger side roof.

Well hit me up; I am off most weekends and holidays. It's not super technical though; mostly dirt roads. I think on this outing I got turned around on one 4Lo route due to a tree down (Turkey Ridge Rd Knox County) and I only really used center locker a few times on the Walhonding / Kokosking river crossings, and 4lo and locker one other time (Bats Nest Rd Knox Co) which has a severe mud hole at the base of a rocky hill climb. Otherwise it's pretty sedate... so if you are looking for challenges there's not really a lot.

That sounds close to what I would enjoy participating in. Is there much brush rubbing your truck? I have a vinyl wrap that would probably get hosed. Is the ride really 100-120 miles? That might be too much for this old man after driving up from CBus and back in my FJ40.

No worries.

And maybe. I was definitely on RT 3 and my VW wagon is black. My bike is on the roof but a little towards the drivers side.

It can be as long or short as you want it to be. Brush rubbing is minimal and can be avoided with some route adjustments easily.

Agree here, I'm working on buttoning up / finishing touches on a recent swap and this seems like a really nice shakedown run - if ya'll get out again any time soon, drop a line here!
