Hello guys,

My very good friend just acquired a 1991 70 series swb with the 5 cyl diesel 1PZ engine. This rig had seen very little maintenance, however the engine is in very good shape, not so for the transfer case which was neglected appropriate lubrication, so we decided to go ahead and upen it up. Almost everything needs replacing, (way out of tolerance specs) so we are now considering instead to just go ahead and get a used transfer case (hopefully in much better shape) and work from there. Would a 1991 production year transfer case be interchangeable with say an 86/87 split transfer case out of an h41 or h55f? I know for sure the 1PZ engine did not come with an h55F even though it is a 5 speed.

I just want to thank you all in advance for any leads, or help you may help me with. All I know is that finding another 1PZ transfer case will be very difficult, but older model transfer cases are more readily avaiable.

i have 3 X 1PZ t/cases sitting here...
i ws going to post up you can use any split case and then started thinking about it and ended up with a mind fart so...

How can I tell what kind of tranny I have in front of the split transfer case? I know for sure it is not an H55F, as it is all aluminum! As I said its a SWB 70 with a 1PZ five cyl engine from 1991

If I went the diff transfer case complete swap, would it matter it be any year specific transfer? I know there are 34mm and 38mm idler, but as a whole unit... anybody has an idea if they will match/fit on the back of the tranny?

Thanks a lot, sorry for my rambling!

thanks a bunch! Now the Q is: Will a transfer case from a R151 interchange with a transfer case from an H55F?
