So for the sake of sanity i have yielded and turned to the good people of the forum worlds.
My query is as such: I have a 03 Lux with a 1KZ-TE motor and have recently decided to splurge and do some mods. My initial plan was to replace the turbo for a stage 1 highflow and do the injectors at the same time, with the intention to install a unichip later. However it seems the money ive put aside is going to go further than i originally thought and a stage 2 turbo is now within reasonable spending. And it got me wondering whether the injection pump will keep up.
It was my understanding the 1kz-te need to be converted a boost compensated 12mm mech pump are something similar to make any decent power and that the electronic pumps cant flow enough fuel. I like the idea of a unichip and the options it grants but more power is also more better.

I guess the simplified question is does the electronic pump on the TE need to go if im aiming for say 120-150 rwhp, and/or can a mechanical pump still be electronically controlled by a unichip? The other question is do the stock 1kz injectors need modifying to produce better power also.

From my understanding, the elec pump (depending on model) can flow plenty, just fine tuning with a UNIchip is needed to unleash all the potential. For me the limited number of unichip tuners put me off the idea when I was in the 1KZ family.

Conversion to a Mech pump and matched injectors may be more 'bush proof' (the mech pump is usually a modified mitsubishi 4m40 unit with a boost compensator)
I would seriously consider a VNT turbo, I have seen some very impressive results when done properly.

Bottom line is, make sure your cooling system is absolutely nuke proof, 10 blade fan, upgraded viscous hub, new bigger radiator, perfectly sealed shroud etc.
THe 1KZ can absorb a certain amount of heat, that needs to be scrubbed off. If you cant scrub it off it just leads to premature ejaculation from the head gasket and a warped head.
