Yes definitely thought of it. Low speed stop and go traffic, or uphill logging trails and such, the TMIC is basically an intake air heater.

I bought a temperature gauge to monitor intake air temperature, haven't gotten that set up yet though. My thought for proof of concept was to make a slow speed/high load run, measure temps, zip tie a 12v fan to the top of the TMIC, make the run again with the fan on, measure temps again and compare.

Not sure it's really needed for these low boost and low output engines, lots of which weren't intercooled at all.

FMIC would be ideal but a lot more hassle. Think I saw some folks who did it but had to sacrifice their AC, which is a full-stop dealbreaker to me.

I agree, the FMIC is not really possible. There is an easy place to put the tubing on the turbo side but not on the other side.

I'm sure air/water would work. Some efficiency loss compared to air to air, and with lots of other complication. I think air/water would work better at low speeds and high boost than the current TMIC, but not as well as the current TMIC at highway speeds.
