So the heads been cracked on the 2006 1HZ. It has done 230,000kms.
While it's in the shop we are getting a brand new head and gasket put in, aswell as a new water pump and thermostat..is there anything else I should look at doing while the heads off and in the shop... Is there anything people can suggest... I'm Not tooconcerned about the cost.

Have them do the valves, obviously.
Timing belt too, as you already have it off.
I'd probably do the rod bearings as well and the piston rings, as you don't have to pull the engine for that.
cheers,

Why did it crack? Aside from overheating. Did it have a turbo installed? How's the rest of your cooling system? Maybe clean out your rad and as many other cooling components while you're at it.

Precups! Do them! Port/polish them out a bit. Also can polish the bowl under the valve up. Helps a bit...
Edit. I guess it would come with new precups... check them for burrs and sharp edges. You can pop them out through the glow plug hole with a rod and a light hammer. A lot of them have rough casting on the inside. I took a dremel and smoothed all the edges up on mine.
