1hz - GT2860rs or GT2871r?

G'day everyone, I originally posted this in the 80 series section but was advised to post in here instead.

Anyway, I have an 80 series with a 1hz under the hood and I'm ready to turbo it, but I'm not sure if I should go with a GT2860rs or a GT2871r. I'm told the two are pretty similar except the GT2871 is just a high flow version of the GT2860rs. My goal is to have boost fairly early, 1200rpm or so would be good, and I'm told the GT2860rs makes this possible, but I know very little about turbos, so I want to make sure I know all the risk factors and options before I make my decision, what are your opinions on what I should do?

X10 those g turbos make the 1hz a animal.
My mate thought the price was a bit on the heavy side but he bit the bullet and said its worth every single cent full stop and after belting around sand dune and hill climbs in it i agree 100%

I put a gturbo on my 1hz and I am very happy and the new ones are apparently better.

Graeme posted a graph showing a comparison of a 2860 and one of his grunter. Grunter was better.

Well I've had a read about the GTurbo and they seem very reputable. Do they do kits or is it just the customised ct26 turbo and you have to source your own parts? Money isn't a real issue at this stage as I've been saving for a while now so I'm prepared to buy a decent quality product.

@Tapage, is that still true even with the .64 turbine housing, as I have been informed otherwise?

Slick I never knew he started getting manifolds made. Do you think they are superior in comparison to the factory manifolds in terms of flow or spool up?

Well I am considering it! Just a little concerned about the old 1HZ flying apart, she has done a fair share of work, but then again, a grunter extreme on a freshly rebuilt 1HDFT sounds good, sooner I find one the better

In the process at the moment mate, just have to take the sump off and put a hole in it for the oil return line and finish plumbing the intake up, give me another week or so and I'll be sure to message you between shift work and working the excavator I'm not left with a whole lot of time.

Though it will be interesting to see how the old girl handles the turbo, with 406,000kms, anything could happen :O

And all thats @ 28:1 afr's before a tune... Cant get egt's over 400 currently.

What were the max egts after your tune?
What psi of boost was it running at post tune cruising at 100km/h?
