Hey,

I'm looking at buying a 1hz fuel pump which has been rebuilt and boost compensated. It has been run on an 2003 1hz up until now in a 105 series cruiser and I'm wanting to slap it onto my 1997 80 series 1hz when I turbo it.

The question is, will is fit? Obviously it will need to be timed and tuned but I have heard that there are 6 different 1hz pumps in the 105 series landcruiser a alone, and hat they each suite a different camshaft grind, can anyone enlighten me?

Cheers!

I'm not to clued up on how they are linked to cam grinds
I think about 98 they added or removed 1 tooth from the cam/pump belt. Its ok if you use all the bits from the same engine.

What's wrong with yours? Can it be rebuilt and fitted with a boost compensator?

My injector guy told me to avoid swapping other pumps and injectors as there's so many differences through the years on these 1HZs that you can really hit snags along the way. If you're going balls to the wall then by all means, the 100 series pump is going to deliver more fuel with the 11mm plunger but if tame is the game keep what you have.

I would get some expert advice because the parts numbers are the same for all 1HZ camshafts from 90 to 07 in Australia for the 75 ,80, and 105 series.
They seem to be the same for other markets as well
Part numbers get changed for the slightest changes in manufacturing and they do this so you will get the exact part when something needs repairing.
1HZ were mainly there for the mining agriculture and construction industries and never had to comply to emissions standards so therefore they only changed things when they had to.
Some countries might have different opening pressure for the injectors

Thanks for the feedback guys, basically this pump, being a bargain at $400 is cheaper than even buying a boost compensator to put on my pump alone (not to mention mine needs a refurb - minimum 2k), so the idea was to slap on this pump with the 7m supra hybrid ct26 turbo 3 inch exhaust and intercooler. To my understanding it has been done many times before (was not aware that they had a larger plunger too though), I know it'd need to be completely retuned to my motor, as long as this possible that's all I need :) will call some pump shops today before I buy it and will let you guys know what they say

can you have a talk to the shop that built it up?

Camshaft grind wont have any affect on whether the fuel pump will physically fit, they are not directly connected. I would expect the pump to bolt up. Also, the number of pump rotations, vs the number of engine rotations will not change irrespective of cam grind, cam belt teeth numbers etc.

I know there are different injectors used in the 105's. Not sure what is different.

if your tuning it up, I'd say give it a crack. 1HZ to 1HZ, there should only be minor variations in timing etc.

At $400, you can't go too far wrong IMO

I spoke to a guy down at Fremantle Fuel injection today, he reckons that around 2003 they introduced some electronic component to the pump which requires effectively a mini ecu in order to run (don't quite understand that), getting the part number of the pump tonight and will call back tomorrow to find out more

Not sure which shop built it up but I'll try and find out, and yeah at $400 the parts on it alone are worth it haha

I very much doubt that. Even the pump out of a 2010 1HZ powered 79 series runs on a single wire.

Yes ,but the 105 has this part 89850-20011 that I couldn't see on an equivalent year 79 series. Its called a "fuel cut valve control" . I'm guessing is they have added an ecu to tell the solenoid when to open/close.
Its still a one wire engine, its just that the wire goes to this gadget 1st.
It might be a simple anti theft device.

105series have an immobiliser module on the fuel cut solenoid.
It works with a transponder key, and immobiliser module/ECU within the vehicle.
It can be removed from the pump

Surely they have people in Sydney that do that work?
