Okay guys I have had a search trough the list of threads and I haven't found anything on this topic but if you guys know of one I would love to be sent a link.
I may be able to pick up a 1hd-fte engine, wiring harness, gear box and transfer case out of a 100 series wagon fairly cheap and I want to fit it into my 1996 hzj 75 ute but I want to know if the gear box will fit as I know I can make the electrics and engine work
Thanks in advance.

H55f box will fit into the powerful 1hdfte.
Having some doubt whether the 275mm clutch plate will withstand the friction from rotating flywheel.
Remember to post up many photos with your conversion.

Yeah I have my doubts that the clutch and standard gear box would hold up to the task so I'm going to try and get the gearbox and clutch with the 1hd-fte as well to solve any power transfer issues. I'm seeing the bloke early this morning so hopefully it's going to be a good price for me

Okay sorry to say guys but i have hit a bit of a road block and am no longer going to follow through with this convertion. I do have some more information though for anyone who is interested. The dash cluster out of a HDJ79 Ute will fit in the same place as the dash cluster in a HZJ 75 ute. The gearbox i was going to use was a H150F out of a HDJ79, its a lot stronger box than whats in the 75 series and is also only anouther 50mm (aprox) longer than a standard gearbox behind the old 1hz. With the gear box only being aaround 50mm longer it appears you would be able to get away with only having to get custom drive shafts made and move the gearbox crossmember but should not have to move the fuel tank or the chassis cross brace back like what has to be done with other drivetrain covertions i have seen on this fourm. I hope this can help someone how can try and follow through with this convertion.
If you have an questions though please ask them and i will try to answer them with what i have found out so far.

The fzj75 was released with the h150 so parts should fit with out major modifications
