I have a 13bt that has done a big end bearing and damaged the crank. So in my research for a reliable rebuild I'm going to be looking around 7-10 grand so I was wondering wat was involved in putting a 1hdt into the middy

Yeah it will assuming you have the correct bell housing.
The 1hz h55 one will work.

I thought I had heard you can fit a 300mm clutch in the bell housing of the h55. This would be something to look at if your planning on getting some power out of the thing.

Oh ok I'm pretty sure I can get a bell housing adapter from www.marks4wd.come.au the other question I have for u seeing u seem to have quite a bit of knowledge about this is the diffs would I b able to run my original ratio or would I b better off swapping them out for 80 series ones

your stock 4.10s are fine.
My truck came with a 1HZ, 4.10s and I run 33" tires and it goes just fine....
I would stick with it unless your planning on going big.

since I did this in 2006.....

What month and year of production is your truck?
If 11/1985 or later you should be able to swap a 1HZ input and bearing retainer on the front of the h55. You cannot use the 13bt bearing retainer nor the input shaft. This does require the t-case come off and 4 major bearings and 5th gear pulled from transmission to introduce the new shaft (one bearing short of total rebuild).

You will need a 1HZ to H55 bellhousing made 1990-1998

Ideally a 300mm HDT clutch pp/flywheel is needed WITH an Isuzu NPR clutch disk, but a heavy duty 275mm 1HZ flywheel, pp, and disk will work. MAKE sure the step is ground into flywheel.

Buy the factory motor mounts from Toyota (1990-2006), cut 3B/13bT off and place engine w w tranny in rear crossmember, weld in the front mounts.

thus the engine is set.
You need PS hose (I have a RHD hz/hdt for sale right now)
You need to route the vacuum to right side of engine- the 2001-2003/4 hdj79 has the right combo vacuum/turbo cooler pipe
Starter is same side, alt is same side
get a hz7x radiator
get a hz7x air cleaner w hdj79 lid

fuel lines should be upgraded to 12mm ID feed, the 8mm return is ok. I used RHD pre and main filter set up.

wiring and the superglow are the two biggest headaches- I live in Arizona and down to 20F i have not needed even a wilson switch.

I have seen hz bellhousings on au.ebay for under $100, you cannot use nor do you want a marks.

I drove for 8 years with hdt-h55-4.11's, fine with that engine. You do not have 4.10's unless you have fzj80 axle diffs swapped in.

you can get some good performance clutch packages from a few places.
I would probably avoid 4terrain from what I have read.

Organic Disc is the way to go....
outback extreme apparently is one to be looked at
http://www.directclutch.com.au/ has some good options, i would be curious to talk to them.
I'm running a Exedy Safari tuff and it holds good for right now.

Talk to someone about your goals if your planning on modding the thing up for some power.

Get a FZ-FE Lid, it flows better.

How many KM's? Not sure if you can rebuild the bottom end in the vehicle with these, I would think it is possible, I know a bloke that did the bottom end in a UZJ105, not long after he bought it, just rebuilt the bottom end in the car. HAs been going well ever since.

So sorry for the extremely late reply guys hav had a lot goin on thanks for all ur input. I think I'm goin to stick with the b motor I was jus wondering if there is a thread out the in the world of mud explaining Wats needed to put a 14 bt into my 74

Hey guys sorry for the late reply had a bit of internet dramas. Appreciate all of the info guys looks like I'm gonna go with the 14bt or 13bt bit easier and cheaper I think and with a few mods will hav the power and torque that I'm looking for. Going to start a new thread about my questions on the 14bt..
