Looking for either a good core or a rebuilt injection pump for my 1992 HZJ77, so either a 1HZ pump or preferably a 1HD-T pump, the cruiser is turbo'd and intercooled.

I purchased a "rebuilt" pump from CruiserParts.net and when I installed it I could get it to work. I spent a bunch of time troubleshooting it with no luck. I took it into a very reputable diesel injection rebuild shop and they quoted me nearly $1500 to bring it up to a basic rebuilt standard. So I am now out a bunch of money, shipping, custom brokerage, troubleshooting, tear down and estimate costs.

The rebuild pump came in poorly packaged, the rusted (inside and out) looked as if it was "sitting in a puddle for a couple years", electrical clip was broken, wires broken off, internally was missing parts. They weren't willing to make it right with me.

Hoping someone out there has something worth installing.

if anyone was curious what their rebuilt pump looked like

Why would you even bother installing that?! I would have returned it immediately ......

I am also keeping my eye out for a good condition pump for the 1HZ I just purchased. Or maybe I'll do the research and rebuild myself.

I have a 12mm pump coming from australia in the next few weeks.
It may be a little while before I can install it as I am doing reno's and I have to fab/fit my intercooler/plenum. I'll keep you both in the loop. My current pump is a stock 1hz pump with a boost comp fitted.

Thanks Foreal,

I am keeping that in mind, I was just hoping to get this truck running again sooner, it has been so long, I am really enjoying my "new" HDJ81 though. Picked it up in Terrace about a month ago. Keep me in the loop,

Hi Georg,

Agreed that was my first thought but my truck had been down for awhile and I had waited nearly three weeks for this one to arrive. I contacted Cruiser Parts when it arrived with my concerns and their answer was that was the pump was the same one in the picture. I of course cleaned it up a bunch before installing it.
Couldn't get it to run and ended up taking it into a shop and the pump was missing some internals. Cruiser Parts was unreasonable in rectifying the problem so I ended up having to send it back. Big mistake dealing with them, let me know if that pump you have would work for me, thanks

The customer referred to in this thread saw the pictures of this pump before it shipped. He called and bought it after finding it on our site for sale. He installed it after cleaning it up a bit and was unable to get fuel to his injectors. We agreed to let a shop tear into it and we were going to cover the cost of rebuilding the pump again up to the amount he paid minus like $200 as a core pump.

After tearing down the pump the only “issue” with the pump was the fuel cut off solenoid was not working and it was determined that a replacement shaft would need to be installed. The shaft was okay after cleaning up the threads and gear area so shaft replacement would be debatable. Customer was unwilling to transfer his fuel solenoid over or let us pay for a rebuild. So he sent it back for a full refund he was only out his import taxes and return shipping along with his time installing and removing it.

We did not do a rebuild on this pump. It was ex mine surplus bought from another mudder that says it was rebuilt. That is why it was cheaper then a typical rebuilt pump as it looked bad. It was something we believed the other mudder on and something this customer believed also (until he couldn't get it to run) and after all of that..... It only needed a solenoid replacement.

Hmmmmmmm

Well. Just goes to show that there are two sides to every story, if not three.

It's good that you posted this info.

It was ex mine surplus bought from another mudder that says it was rebuilt..

Lemme guess - by "another mudder" that said it was ex-mine and "rebuilt".........you must be referring to Owlridge. Seems like everyone getting "owlridged" these days. This is an example of a "trickle-down-owlridge-ing".:D
