intercooler on a 1HD-t

Planning on trying to come up with a inexpensive intercooler for the 1HD-T. can't imagine how companies charge so much when you can buy bigger more complicated kits for all other vehicles for much less. have a couple of ideas and a really amazing machinist and welder friends.

Wasn't Wayne (Crushers) doing something along these lines he was going to sell?

should be interesting to see an 80 around here with a hood scoop.

where can the adaptors be had?

You can buy cheap adapters.
Or even a 1hz intake pipe

I was wondering about the 1HZ pipe it looked right but I wasn't sure. where can the adaptors be had?.

I know there are some others designing stuff as well but I'm an aircraft mechanic and with that comes cheap:-) I have a couple of good ideas and I'm making a scoop from carbon fibre. wanting a nice tight package for my 1HD-t. without taking up the entire compartment and using a bunch of hose pipe.

hoping to come up with off the shelf parts so everyone can do it without spending a grand or so.

Great info, thanks.

I believe there is another company that makes them. Don't remember who though.

You can pick up 1hz intakes fairly cheap on eBay sometimes

That adapter is just what im looking at making although cheaper.

Thanks, i found the intercooler thread after you guys mentioned it. I am working on an adapter and then just using an off the shelf intercooler from ebay $110 similar to others with out the cross over pipes and just like yours without the custom welded intercooler.

still can't believe the price of off the shelf coolers. i will keep everyone informed as I progress.

Also are you using the fan because of you climate? or did you find the intercooler needed it?

dunno how it would be out of my regular HOT weather down here .. ( reading 91ºF right now at noon in my external house temp sensor .. with 86% humid ..) so I did put the fan and I turn on when my engine oil temp goes over 120ºF
