My IHD-T injection pump is leaking. It is from a '95 LC80 and was swapped into a 1991 HZJ75. I noticed some diesel fuel leaking in the area of the ACSD actuator rod. Local shop said I need to have the injector pump taken out and rebuilt. That is quite an expensive rebuild. On the other hand someone who is quite familiar with this problem said it is a worn bushing for the ACSD actuator rod and that it is easy to fix, without actually having to remove the IP. Anyone else familiar with this? I've attached a photo. I can see diesel flowing under the spring in the picture and dripping from the underside of the spring. It's dripping at a rate of 1 drop every 2-3 seconds. The engine is running fine. I have a good video of it but don't seem to be able to upload the video.

If you won't miss the idle-up and timing advance on a cold start, you can get rid of the ACSD. They are also known to fail and damage the pump on the 1HD engines.

If you want to keep it, you can take if off the pump and disassemble it. There is an O ring in there which commonly fails, as it is sealing a moving shaft against the housing. It's the same O ring as is used on the acclerator/governor arm shaft on top of the pump.

You can also just buy a new ACSD.

I have taken all of mine off.
No timing changes....
Blanking plate oil/fuel resistant "O" ring.
Get the best tools in case of tough bolts.
Bottom is easy if you remove the ft tire and fish an extension through the now obvious gap.
Good idea to tap your Allen wrench in there snugly.
The ACSD will eventually fail, and then the pump definitely has to be removed.
