Hi. I just changed my engine oil on 1HD-FTE at home; I picked 15w-40 Shell T6 diesel oil. About a week after the oil change, I noticed that AC is not cold like it should and the morning engine cranking is sluggish. I wonder if this is from the oil change, perhaps T6 full synthetic 15W-40 was too thick for the engine...?

AC was last charged more than a year ago so maybe there is small leak and finally caught up. Will need to get a mechanic take a look at the system.

Cranking used to be less than one-second crank...Now it takes 2-3 seconds with cranking pattern/rhythm of "stu.....stu...stutu...stututututu"

Thoughts?

I suspect you have picked the oil that is too thick. Toyota recommends 5W30 as all year round oil, so that's what I'm using in my 1HD-FTE.

You think so? I thought I was following the chart for 1HD-FTE after reading some oil thread. It's a southern Virginia here, almost summer. It gets pretty hot and not cold; it's about 20-28°C around here these days.

Maybe. I hope that's it. I may need to do another change soon. I'm not so sure about 5W-30, though; may try 10W-30. Hope it didn't do any damage yet, if it were to do so.

Yeah took it to mech for AC check; battery amp is low. Probably not the oil issue lol
Those sound completely unrelated to your oil, pretty much everyone here in Aus uses 15W/40 incl myself in their FTE and I have no concerns between -10c to 45c temp range.
