Good lord, GREAT DEAL.

a diesel engine compression tester and appropriate adaptor to fit in the injector/glow plug housing.
get the engine to working temp before performing the test for true readings. do this in reasonable time before the engine cools too much.

a cold test is ok for determining low compression/valve issue on a particular pot.

the 1HDT/1HZ are a joy to test as you can remove all the glow plugs and test away. the 1HDFT/1HDFTE are a bit of a pain because you have to remove an injector, test, replace injector and move on to the next. if you remove all the injectors at once you will get oil spraying everywhere and probable a false reading as oil drops into the cylinder.

make sure your batteries are fully charged and half decent. nothing worse than getting to number 5 and the engine starts to crank slowly. causing you to fully charge the batteries and start over again...
