Hi guys I am new to the forum new to the 100 series

I still have my 88 FJ62 that is currently not being driven
So I'm not new to the landcruiser, and have done alot of the work on the FJ62, water pump, oil cooler, alternator, brakes and parking brake( bell crank rusted)

I bought a 1999 100 with 222,000 miles from a family friend who was the original owner. Mother with three children who always parked in a garage.

While reconditioning and repairing brakes , parking brake, leaking moon roof,(clogged gutter) bad heater blower fan motor,

I removed the center console and front seats, the truck starts but will not shift into gear. I put the driver seat back in and connected the electricals and it still won't shift into gear

Ques ? Do I have to put the center console back in and connect all the electricals so the shifter will work ? Does the ECM need to see all electricals connected just to shift into gear? Maybe the button for the transmission ?

Thanks a bunch

Sounds like a brake interlock problem. There is an override for the interlock on the shifter hidden under a small cover with a screwdriver slot in it. I would try that first if you haven't already. There are pictures and instructions in the owners manual.

Good luck

Remove the center console around the shifter. There's a little plug going into it, IIRC it's at the front. It controls the interlock solenoid. My guess is you've accidentally loosened that connection. See if you can re-seat it.
