My brother in law owes me 7500.00 He offered me his 99 lX470. Zero rust. Interior great shape. Needs a few things and a good cleaning. Timing belt was done at 100k. Odo currently at 130K. Needs tires. Only bad thing is sunroof does not work. Hopefully a fuse. (if you know which one, let me know)

Thinking of taking it for the debt owed. No accidents. Paint is faded but can be brought back to life. Kinda the rust brown color.

What do you experienced guys think?

Might put OME suspension, tires, clean it up and keep it for a long time?

Your opinion is appreciated

Well worth it...especially with the low miles.

Take it, but don't screw with it. Drive as is.
If I take it I just really want an OME 2.5" suspension kit. And new tires. Do is take most toyota rims without spacers? Like newer tundra wheels or TRD off newer 4runner?
thanks

It will take newer wheels off of 5-Lug Toyotas: Land Cruiser, Sequoia and Tundra (later models).

No 4Runner or Tacoma wheels as they are 6 lug.

I would look more into 100's. Ive got one and i love her (maybe too much). the one you're looking at is a great deal. You will likely end up putting some time and or money base-lining her over the next year. i would recommend doing this before the aftermarket mods. These tucks are ultra reliable tanks, almost unstoppable, almost. The problem is, because they are so well built sometimes the PO doesn't do the necessary maintenance and they just keep going and going sort of like the energizer bunny. But what they are unwittingly doing is kicking the can down the road to the next owner. I know this from personal experience. Still totally worth it. As long as you know you're getting a good deal on a reasonably well maintained 100 and plan on spending some money on her up front- you'll be very happy with your purchase.

Opinions are like @55holes, everybody has one. If you decide to get the truck, for what seems like a good deal, then it is yours with no strings attached to your brother-in-law. I would personally go for it but I am a glutton for punishment. I bought my 100 series for a good price and three months later the ABS/accumulator/multi-function hydraulic mechanism went out. List for $3600 (got cheaper from a trusted MUD vendor) and I installed myself. I have no hard feelings towards the PO because it was a fair deal with full disclosure. That being said, I would hesitate to get into that much with anyone, family or not. BTW I am a cheap dude.
