A friend of mine is going to look at this LX on my behalf tomorrow. If I decide not to buy it, I'll let you guys know why!

I asked her if she had any offers. Zero response. I do know that she had no record of the timing belt or WP service. Good luck.

She's replied to my requests. No TB/WP service and none listed on searchable Lexus service records. I'll let you guys how it looks tomorrow. If I like it, I'm gonna schedule a PPI and run with it!

I'll give you guys my take on the truck. The owner is super-nice, though is not mechanically inclined or privy to any of our jargon. The exterior and interior and clean given the mileage, though the underbody is much more corroded than I anticipate for a truck with a Florida and Georgia history according to the Carfax. There is no known timing belt change, so this could be the OEM belt. Also, LOTS of differed maintenance and the ACH is currently inoperable. This example would would require LOTS of baselining, too much for me. Figure; all drivetrain fluids, TB/WP service, ACH diagnostics, leaking CVs, dated tires, etc etc etc....

Hope this helps. my2cents

Thanks for the info. Sounds like she will be holding onto it a while at 15.5k. Prime example of irrational pricing.

Did you end up making offer on it, too see if she was flexible? . maybe low enough price would compensate for the baseline / timing belt and such

She told me she wouldn’t go less than 14k. I asked if she had any offers and no reply.

Based on the underbody and complete lack of maintenance history, I did not make an offer. IMO, it's an 11k truck if you're doing your own maintenance. Otherwise, budget an additional 7-10k. But like I said, very cool owner, just not a cruiser-person.

Budget 7 to 10k for repairs? How do you arrive at that just curious.

Well, if you don't wrench and your local shop charges 120 per hour (dealers in my area are closer to 150), the costs will add-up QUICKLY.

Tires- 1k (unless you buy junk)
TB/WP service - 2k (if you don't wrench)
Drivetrain fluids - diff, trans, transfer case, radiator, brakes, ACH, etc - $1.5k
CV-joints - $600

That's 5k without diving in. The ACH is inoperable and replacing any associated parts could get very expensive. You might as well go static. If you can wrench, this truck still needs at minimum 3k.

Again, this is just my opinion and varies depending on the end-user. Some people don't care if their trucks aren't perfect. Others do. Just trying to help!

Wow those prices seem high, and I come from the Land Rover world. The local Toyota dealer in Western NC quoted me $900 for TB/WP for LC.
