1999 Land Cruiser reverse indicator on with brakes

My reverse indicator comes on when I apply the brake pedal, no matter where the gearshift is. I have replaced the neutral safety switch on my transmission. While driving it affects my transmission when I apply the brakes. Is there something else I should be looking for?

If I have it in 2nd gear like on a hill, when I apply the brakes it shifts to drive and when I release the brakes it shifts back down to second again. Crazy

Did you ever figure this issue out? I have a similar issue.

My 2005 100 series has a similar issue. I press the brakes and the reverse indication on the dash and reverse camera comes on the nav screen.

I would recommend checking your wiring in the rear end. You likely have a short somewhere and when you brake the wires are moved enough to touch. I think someone had posted another thread about it a while ago. I believe there issue was in the tailgate wiring.

Tailgate wiring, or trailer brake lighting module.
