SOLD

This is my wife's car. We maintained it like we were going to keep it forever (so we never skimped on maintenance) but we recently inherited a new car that she has decided to keep. It books at $5300 according to NADA, they sell for about $4-5G in this range, we're only asking $3400 for quick sale mostly because we don't have a place to store it. The 5 speed manuals are also a little hard to find particularly in the wagons for some reason (usually they are automatic-tiptronic). It is also rock solid in winter with snow tires...

Gets 30-32 mpg highway. 1.8 VW/Audi turbo engine, tuned for efficiency in the Passats (not gobs of power) but still flies up big grades at 80mph.

- Two sets of wheels and tires (dedicated snow tire set).
- Volkswagen Keyless Entry.
- Excellent stereo, Sirius Satelite Radio and iPod controller/input.
- We purchased the car from her father at 57,000 miles who also perfectly maintained it so an almost 1 owner car.
- Synthetic oil always used when having oil changed.
- Recent brakes on all 4 corners including rear rotors and calipers (over $1000 in brakes).
- Timing belt replaced.
- No accidents ever and clean title in hand.
- Brand new windshield and will easily pass emissions and inspection with flying colors.
- Only 113K miles.

Feel free to call or email/PM with any questions.

Those things rock. Good luck with the sale. Our 2000 wagon, also 1.8 turbo and 5-spd, has 213,000 miles on it and still going strong.

That's a smoking deal. Was the water pump replaced too? The timing belt and waterpump replacement on my Audi cost $2,000, so it's a good deal at $3400. And, you want the manual because the automatic ones have issues. Anyone in this area should jump on this if they see it. Nice wagon!

Yes water pump and timing belt were done at about 55K by VW before our extended warranty expired...

Other general maintenance is:

all new brakes on all 4 corners including calipers and rotors in the rear
several tie rod ends over the years with alignment of course
about two years ago there was a clunk and it new VW sway bar ends

Again it was really well maintained and runs perfectly.. The only thing wrong with it is last week we noticed a little clicking out of the front right while turning so it will need a new front right CV joint. I think you can still get plenty of life out of it even with the clicking (seriously I wouldn't hesitate to hop in the car and head to California or Texas and it would make it just fine) but you'll want to get it replaced at some point. I priced it out at $250-300 a side or anyone mechanically inclined can do it themselves as its super easy to swap CVs... We started out asking $3800 but I think $3400 is fair getting this fixed...

Also it has an electric sunroof (no leaks ever) that has three positions, power windows of course, and everything works perfectly including cold AC...

hope it helps,
thanks, Andre

Gas.

Only if... maybe in a couple of weeks. It would be a fun drive back to CA.
Good luck.

wow, so tempting...

my fire gear could live in the second row, and dogs could ride in the back.

how bout some shots of those areas, on the off chance.

Andre,

That thing is cool, especially with the 5spd!!

I'd trade you my motorcycle straight across! :hillbilly:

I'd seriously consider it if I could sell my Safari turbo kit.

GOOD LUCK (Not that you'll need it) with the sale!

That would be a killer DD so I could play with my trucks on the side and not wear them out as DD's
Wish the VW was a oil burner too......wish you were closer to 30809...........SDF

Also food for thought is I may consider delivery around the west for the cost of fuel. My truck is a Ford Superduty and it gets about 12-14 mpg towing. For less than $200 I was considering delivering it to Vegas a couple days ago (to throw a Mountain Bike trip in there as well :) )

I also forgot to mention all maintenance was done by certified Volkswagen mechanics and/or the dealer itself. Not that I don't trust my own work but for sanity I have a rule that I don't do work on my wife's car.. The only think I did was the recent complete brake job (new pads up front, new rotors/calipers/pads/ and a new brake line in the rear) which I've done 20 gazillion times on European cars since I was in college so I didn't mind doing that for her and to save $600 in labor charges.. Otherwise again timing belt, water pump (all done at 60K miles so about 55,000 miles ago) was all done by certified VW techs.

The funny thing is I have been getting calls from all over, San Diego, Nebraska, Georgia today! Pretty funny...

thanks,
Andre

I tell you what, if I didn't own 4 cars now. I'd buy it and ship it. For $700-800 it could be shipped to Georgia and still be a deal. Good luck!

Andre,
This looks like a great car! I'm trying to sell my cruiser to get a daily driver and am very interested. I also love your frame swap and diesel conversion on your 55! Your cruiser was an inspiration for me! You do great work! Unfortunately, this isn't the time to have a cruiser for me! I've got too much going on and trying to do school and a job. Sorry for the story, but free bump!
Thanks!
Andy
