Hello all.

I set up a group buy for A PX6 12.1” Tesla style Radio that controls HVAC with a company based in Southern California, Rhino Radios. They’ve been very communicative and have provided amazing customer support thus far.

I’ve seen many reviews from people that got these to work, and if they don’t, they can be returned within 30 days. There is also a year warranty.

OK here are the details:

Company: Rhino Radios Rhino Radios - Drive with Ease, Ride with Fun

COUPON CODE: LCLEXUS19
Good for 15% off and a free accessory of $$70 or less (add ons are selectable when configuring your radio and listed as free items)

Link to LC100 (2003-2007 LC/LX) RADIO Toyota Land Cruiser LC100 Lexus LX 470 2003 - 2007 12.1

Mine came out to $551.95 with tax. I also ordered the external TPMS sensors and the WIFI ODBII sensor, which I got 15% off of as well it seems.

Here’s the link to the 1998-2002 LC/LXs

Happy shopping!!!

Does this mean you can't have both wired or wireless carplay?
If this is the case which would be better?

I think you can have both you just need to order both options. You can choose one for free tho.

i'm going wired first. I'm not in love with Car play in my other cars, so I'm gonna see how it rolls wired first and then maybe add the wireless if I like it.

From someone ordering a radio through the group buy on FB:

"Holy crap guys, I just got off the phone with them if you have a land cruiser 100 series with navigation you get there latest and greatest model with built-in CarPlay and android auto and a 2 to 3 second boot up time. The back up camera works with your factory camera and I believe you get the tire monitoring system as well. This is not true for the Lexus model. If you’re going to order it’s worth a call and talk to them. She said you do not need to choose Apple CarPlay as a accessory pick something else because you already get it"!

Update again!!!! Exciting news!!! The LC version is fast boot (2 sec) and the oem backup camera works with it. Also wired car play comes with so you do t need to get that.

The LX version is the same except the boot time is 5 seconds and the camera doesn’t work.

So dont choose the apple

Car play cus it’s included.

Also both have TpMS built in, but the Lx will only give you a low pressure warning, if you want the actual psi readings you still need the sensors.

To all the guys/gals who are gun shy, I just made the same purchase. Totaled about 551.95. This link saves almost 100 bux off. What you don't see in the details is PX6 but it has been verified multiple times that it is a px6 unit. Their website has conflicting information and will be updated this week. What is also notable is that you don't 64 G of storage. ONLY 32 G of storage. I don't plan to download much so I don't feel anyway about that. Very helpful and very cogent about all the questions I had. TPMS internal (if you bout that life) or external, is a great option because Android auto and carplay are included. It will not have Android 9.0 OS, only 8.1 so if there is something you need in the latest OS then be advised. I feel like, hell I've been driving around with a tape deck for months so I don't mind not having the latest OS and it is plug in play for my late year 2007. I just spent 20 mins on the phone. Very nice woman who installed one of these before was very helpful. Thank you @borneo1910 again for making it happen and IH8MUD for all the juice. Happy shopping. She did agree to re extend the offer for another week after it closes this thursday.

I have to be honest, I doubt I am up for doing the install myself. Any idea what a competent audio/elec shop would charge for this install, or at least how many hours?

man, I felt and feel the same way. It could go from 200 to 500 easy depending on the shop. The woman who helped me installed one and is not a wrencher at all. I might end up doing mine now because of the confidence of speaking to many Ih8mudders who did it and speaking to her. I think my local guy quoted me $250. I'd pay it just to have peace of mind and clean proper installation. I also have interest in changing the amp and door speakers so it makes sense to have the shop do it

Rhino (the radio distributor) says they do the installs for $200. I assume thats the radio only, ie no back up cam or usb hub in the center console type love.

can't wait to see a usb hub for thumb drive action... does anyone have the wiresless carplay module though? i'm considering that and OBD II wifi, im just not sure exactly what their value would be

There's a youtube vid with someone who has both the wired and wireless carplay. My understanding is that the wired doesn't' charge that fast. the wireless lets you connect anyone's phone in the car. I'm going wired first to see how I like it and if I want wireless I'll do it afterward. I'm not 100% in love with car play anyways, so I'm just trying to dip my toe in before I go all in.

You need the odb II wifi, the blue tooth ones don't work with thiis unit I think. You can use apps like Torque and other ODB II apps. My understanding anyways.

Her responses “

OBD WIFI module scanner will help you troubleshoot engine codes, saves you a ton of money in diagnostic fees. Diagnose Check Engine Light & Fix the Problem Yourself.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are car assistant systems that help you access certain features of your phone, either through your infotainment system or through your phone interface.

Your unit has this feature already built in.

Best,
Vanessa

yeah I think the built in car play is wired only tho. but I could (and hopefully am) wrong about that. I say go for the External TPMS sensors as your free additional thing and add the wifi ODB II and the HD back up cam.

The odb II adapter does so much more than just trouble codes.

I'm down to order the headunit. I just need to know what all I need to order for this to work in a 07 LX470 and can I order by tomorrow 10/31?

Call rhino and discuss. You might just need to plug in and play with an 07 but don’t quote me

So the unit will come with apple car play/android built in.

If your in an Lx the backup camera isn’t compatible, so you’ll need one of those, from rhino or where ever.

I’m getting the tpms (external for me) cus it would be great to have the read out of the tire pressure. This you can add for free, or with the group buy you get 1 accesory (<$70) for free. I’m also gettin the odb II WiFi guy. These are both add ons and. It needed to.

I currently have a 2004 100 series, and my MFD crapped out and the dealership quoted me 8k for a new one. I was looking for an aftermarket replacement. So for the people that have actually installed this, is this effectively a replacement for the MFD unit on the stock LC? Please say its is so!
