I hate to do this, but the time has come to sell my beautiful 1997 LX450. This is BY FAR the cleanest specimen I have ever seen in person and is probably only rivaled by some of the ones on this site cared for by the best LC enthusiasts in the country. My twins are now 16 years old and I can't stomach the thought of letting them destroy this awesome vehicle. Here are some details:

  • 194k miles. I bought the car from a Land Cruiser collector who treated this like an absolute baby. Before he sold it to me, he did things like the axle seals, A/C, hoses, brakes etc. When I purchased it at about 160k, I baselined all the fluids, upgraded the tires, new antenna, center diff switch. I even had any burned-out dash lights replaced, so literally every little thing works like it did when it left the factory. I even replaced the pieces on the roof rack because the paint was faded. The A/C is amazing! better than all of my much newer cars. There are no fluid leaks as my garage floor and driveway will attest to.
  • Southern Car: Although it currently resides in Ohio, where I have been very careful to avoid rust, it comes from down south. The guys at the Toyota dealership where the service is done always drool over the great condition of the undercarriage and the car in general. i looked under a 2015 LX 570 today that had 30k miles -- This 20-year old LX 450 looks better. The paint is perfect and there are very few physical imperfections on the outside.
  • Never off-roaded: This car has never been off-roaded, which will be obvious as soon as you see it. You will not have any of the associated concerns to deal with. It does not have the lockers, which might be a good thing since it gives you more confidence that it has been a street vehicle. Plus, you can start from scratch if you want lockers. I do use four wheel low every so often on gravel roads or other soft surfaces, just to keep that system fresh and operating perfectly.
Here is the list of all the problems the car has mechanically, physically and visually to the best of my knowledge....
  • There are two imperfections I can think of. The drivers seat is worn similar to others of this age, and a spring fell out of the latch for the hood, so when I close it, I currently have to move a latch manually before I close it. I will probably replace the 99 cent spring before I sell it.
I am selling this gem for $10,995. If you want to avoid all of the restoration and pit of mechanical issues that are requires to bring many of these vehicles up to par, then this is the one for you.

I am very interested in your rig. Do you have pictures of the underside of the vehicle?

Can you PM me the VIN so I can look up the car history?

Hey Guys, thank you for your interest. The most common question I am getting in your communications is to see pictures of the underside. I will get these as soon as I am with the car in daylight...at the latest this weekend.

In a mostly unrelated note, my wife has been driving the lx450 this week because the unthinkable happened...Some idiot blew through a stoplight and totaled my mint condition 2007 Lexus LX with very low miles...I am so mad. I had always said that if I ever get in an accident in that tank, that we will be glad it is so big and heavy. Well, it actually happened. The other car was completely demolished. While my car is most likely totaled, it did a great job protecting its occupants.

Anyhow, stay tuned for pics of the underside of the LX450.

Huge bummer man. I would absolutely hate if some one hit one of my 100's.

Looking forward to the pics.

Hi Guys, I have a received an offer from a very nice guy who wanted to get ahead of the curve before I posted the next round of pictures. Thank you for your interest. If this deal does not go through, I have a new group of pictures, including the undercarriage that I will promptly post.

Update - Sold for $9800 to first offerer. I had a waiting list of about six people, so I wonder if I could have gotten more!? I guess I will never know.

I am happy it is going to a good home.
