1997 Locked LC w/ cloth in NE Texas [SOLD]

I have to sell my 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser. It's bone stock and all original as far as I know with 209,441 miles. Carfax shows a clear history and I am only the second owner!

It has factory front and rear lockers, cloth seats (very rare), cold air conditioning, power windows/ locks with keyless entry and third row seats.

I bought it a couple months ago wanting to make it into my dream expedition vehicle. I've always wanted one of these... but happened to get engaged around the same time I bought this. I need the money I spent on this back to fund my wedding. :whoops:

It drives great and is in amazing condition for its age. It does need a couple of things, but nothing major:
• New tires relatively soon (see photos)
• New shocks (they're old and mushy, but drivable)
• New driver's side sun visor (won't stay up, I removed it, photos)
• This doesn't need replacing, but the rear main seal has a very slow leak (common issue; doesn't leak enough to even register on the dip stick)
• This doesn't need replacing, but there is a blemish on the driver's side rear door panel (see photos)
• Antenna doesn't go all the way up so reception isn't good enough to listen to the radio. CD's work though.

I'm looking for $5995 OBO cash only in Longview, Texas.

No "factory" roof rack or running boards...2 more big pluses. The presence of front mud flaps leads one to believe that it never did have running boards...seller can confirm it never had a roof rack by looking for holes.

No traces of roof rack or running boards. Also no traces of rust, forgot to say that before. It was in Dallas before here so it's always been in northern Texas.

I'd keep the 80 and postpone the wedding. Where are your priorities man? :D

Shhh. I'm justifying it to myself by thinking it will be a pain to move two vehicles across the country (we're probably moving after the wedding) and that I can find another one when I get there. If you tell me I'm wrong, then, then...

sorry to tell ya, you got yourself a fine specimen there. It's worth the pain my friend. I had to move with four vehicles and it was a pain but well worth it. I'm just helping you make sure that you don't set a wrong precedence with the future wife. She needs to know where your priorities lie, so to speak.

We're all here for ya!!!

I suggest you sell that heap Mercedes next to it. Those are easy to find everywhere. What you have is not. I totally wish I had your specs.

Can you send me a pic of the door sticker? Does the antenna works? Do you have the title on hand? Third seat row?
Thanks

I can take a photo of the door sticker when I get off work in a few hours and upload it.

The antenna works but as mentioned in the post, doesn't go all the way up. I don't know what it's catching on as I haven't looked into it. It extends about 3-4" and you can hear the motor trying, but it just doesn't go.

I have the clean Texas title in hand.

The third row seats are in great condition, and stored in an indoor closet. I needed the room more than the seats.

I am very interested in the 80. Please get in touch with me to talk about it further. PM incoming

Here is the sticker... Sorry about the quality (cell phone) but it should be readable.

I remember seeing this on craigslist in Dallas. I really wanted it, but just couldnt justify it (already have a 93 LC and 85 4Runner). Love the color, no boards, no rack, and no spoiler! Good luck, should easily sell!

Currently have a security deposit and should be selling it on Sunday.

If I would have known you wanted a deposit you would have sold it tomorrow. Please consider our appointment canceled.

I apologize, but there was no commitment from you to buy and I had several other people contact me last night who were willing to pay my asking price and commit to the purchase. At the time I spoke to you, I hadn't even thought of a security deposit. A potential buyer suggested it to me. I privately informed you that I consider it sold before posting that on the public forum.

Wow, that's a neat 80 - I'd have ditched the Merc too, but just my opinion.

Did the original owner say anything about custom ordering it, or anything when you bought it?

I'm surprised it took 2 days to sell with that price & the way it's optioned / not optioned - you won't find another one quite like it, I'd bet.

Best wishes in the marriage - your lady better understand what you gave up & treat you accordingly for at least a few months.

Whoever got this, smart move getting a security deposit in his hands - I bet his cel phone is as busy as Heidi Fleiss' back when she was a "independant business owner".

The original owner traded it in on something else so I bought it from a dealer. Wish I could have spoken to him, though....

Thanks for the wedding wishes! Unfortunately, selling the MB wouldn't get me anywhere. I owe about $2K less than what it is worth right now, I need a luxury-ish car because I often take clients to lunch (I'm not in sales!.. but go to lots of meetings with clients), and my fiance feels safe driving it (and not the 80, due to its size).

My phone has been ringing off the hook and my PMs have been filling up my inbox!

--SOLD--

I want to thank winstonclein and his wife for coming down here today, teaching me a few things about the vehicle, and helping us out by taking it home. We enjoyed meeting them and think it's in great hands and are glad it went to someone in the ih8mud community!

I'll be lurking for a year or so, until after the wedding and when I get my next one! :D
