Hi fellas,

I just got a 1997 KZJ90 from Spain. Mechanically she is in a really got shape ( knowing that she's 25 years old) so far super happy with it. I've been working on doing a restoration for the chassis, the underbody and the wheels.

it took 2 days of work to complete the whole process, starting by cleaning the whole chassis with a wire brush and wire wheel to take all the rusty spots out, after I applied degreaser ( I let it soak for about 20 minutes) spraying it all with a power washer to clean the extra dirt she could have, let it sit overnight and the next morning I used POR15 metal prep to make sure no reactions will show up.
The painting process was long but really easy to do, it was pretty straight forward to be honest with you guys ( take all the precautions POR15 is a really difficult to remove type of paint and if it gets on your eyes it will be a world of pain for few minutes, I definitely recommend to wear safety glasses for the whole process). Oh really important I got the black semi-gloss rust prevention from POR.

I would like to share couple of pictures of the process.

The steel wheels were a different game (easier) they were really rusty but nothing to bad so I decided to restore them too. basically same process with the wire brush and the wire wheel. After dedicating a good time taking all the rust out the wheels I washed them with soap and a 3M general purpose hand pad, metal prep from POR after.

IMPORTANT: Before painting the wheels I prepped them using regular rubbing alcohol to take all grease off that could stay in the wheels after washing them.

I painted all the wheels with one spray can of silver rustoleum (even when I have all the tools to do it whit a pain gum I just wanna keep it simple and see where this will take me).

I have to be honest that the results impressed me, Let me show you.
