1997 Cruiser Problem (1 Viewer)

I have 2 1997 80s. My wife's just started having this problem yesterday. When the truck is running, and the heater is on full blast, it feels like the dash is about to vibrate out of its place. The sound and vibration is terrible. When the power is lowered on the heater, the vibration and sound gets quieter, but it is still there. I am clue with regard to autos, so any idea of what this problem is will be very helpful. Thanks!

Has the dash ever been apart or out of the shaker? Sounds like the fan/motor's coming loose. Does it change if the recirc button is pushed?

Nope, never been apart or anything. The sound does not go away if it is on recirculate. It sounds like a mechanical problem rather than a physical/body problem. I just don't know that much about autos to tell you guys very much. It almost feels like the engine is idling very high, but only affected by the a/c/heater. That is why I assume that it is possibly a fan problem. Also, I can't be sure, but when I gassed it in park, the truck seemed like it was rocking from side to side, but I don't know if this is just normal, or if this is connected to the other problem.

Don't think it fits with your comment about the truck "rocking from side to side" or the idle increasing but since you said you weren't sure about those........had a noisy/vibrating fan problem once, took things apart and found a mouse had built a nest in there and been storing pieces of dog food.

Also - You said, "when the truck is running." Does the fan make the noise when the engine is not running? (key in on position but engine off)

Broken fan blade on the heater blower. Kids put the dardest things in the darndest places. In my case not mice but an arm from a Barbie...
