I am not sure if this is the right place, but I have a question. I have a 1996 landcruiser, that's locked and has about 156k miles. The thing is, although it has a clean carfax, I was burned and bought a cruiser with a bent frame. All the things that you shouldn't do when a person buys a car, I did. Bought it at night, in the rain, and with cash in my hand and excitement that I found a decent good deal car.

Long story short, I have had it for a almost 2.5 years, has some quirks, but all in all its an Okay car. Drives okay, AC works and the check engine light only comes on every once in a while. What do you think I could get for it or what do you think the value is? I am going to need to sell it. Has a clean carfax, for what thats worth and don't want to burn someone else.

How did you find out the frame was bent?

How bad is it?

oh yeah, I guess I should have mentioned that. when I bought it, it had a sudo, homemade skid plate, so that was the first thing I removed and to my surprise I found it. Well I am not sure how bad it is, the welds are bad from my POV, but I assumed bent frame meant bad...

You can see the frame puller teeth marks on the front of the tube. There are other things as well, like the lines don't match up and if you remove the heat shield under the hood, you see a white hood. I have learned my lesson, but besides the obvious, it has been a good car.

Whoever welded it, is NOT a welder. Find a decent fab shop in your area and pay them a couple hundred to grind off the crap and weld on some good plates. That will make it stronger and make it look a WHOLE lot better.

if someone looks at it and picks up on it, then it will probably be about 50% of the regular value. Assume it has a salvage title.

Sorry to see that happened for you. Definitely could have done a better job.

Nope it has a clean title. This poor cruiser had a fake doctor that used a dirty knife on folding table. I took her to a couple of repair shops but they wont touch it.

Local community college or high school?

Hey there and welcome. All 80's have there quirks. You just in with it man! Cheers!

Take it to a metal fabrication shop, not a body shop, someone could make quick work and redo the welds. IMO get the welding re done, and throw it up on classifieds. If you can get a person to see the value beyond a bent frame, it might be here if anywhere. Take some overall pics, interior, etc., and post up otherwise it would be difficult to assess the value.

Don't beat yourself up, you have a lot of integrity making the issue known before selling.
