I had issues with the gearbox (A442f) intermittently changing gears when cruising at around 80kmh

I took it into a mechanic and they replaced the TPS as it had a flat spot. The kickdown cable was also replaced as it was frayed and hanging on by only one thread

Anyways, i got the wagon back today and now it seems to change gears up to 100km ok, but when going uphill under load, it won’t drop down a gear and holds the top gear

The kickdown cable seems very loose. I was going to adjust it, but there is no “stopper” on it? The stopper came in a separate bag with the replacement cable.

Where is the stopper meant to be crimped onto the replacement cable? Is there a certain distance from the end of the cable?

Or, is there another way to adjust the cable

Thanks

Have you still got the old cable? they come new without the stopper crimped on. The last one I did I used the old cable to match where the stopper needed to be. There shouldn’t be noticeable “slack”
