1996 Toyota Land Cruiser XJ80 -

Seems like a great price for the mileage, although the seller seems a little uninformed.

1996 Toyota Land Cruiser XJ80. This is the series of XJ's that is the best for 4x4 lift and modification. The differential locks by a button touch in the cab. It also has the reinforced frame. It is ready to lift and go. Purchased a cat back exhaust that has not been installed, I will include with purchase. Clean DMV, MUST SELL ASAP... $3500.00 -

Has anyone had contact with this guy? I've spoken to him over the phone and he was willing to take deposit from me for the vehicle (I'm coming from Seattle). I would have sent a deposit so long as the carfax checked out. When I asked for the vin he's ignored me since. Just something to keep in mind if you end up dealing with this fellow. Seemed pretty honest at first but had a quesy feeling after trying to get more info. Let me know if anyone actually sees or meets him. I'd like to confirm my gut feeling. Thanks!

I've had multiple contacts with him. Including pulling car fax and several email and phone conversations. He has promised me the vehicle and I have a guy scheduled to pick it up after first. Pending photo of title. With his name on it. I did get a photo of his DL least so he says. Carfax supported what he told me.

I will say I have a bad feeling on the deal. I've talked to him for two weeks on and off now. I have a friend two hours from him who will be going after title shot comes.

Guy says he just lost his father and that has been keeping him busy and distracted. Which I can see. ????

I live in the same area as the seller. I can swing by and check the truck out for anyone who needs it. Works been slow, so I have plenty of time to fill with Cruisers.

Awesome. If I hear back from seller I'll let you know. Nearest person I know is a few hours drive in Tahoe. Guy seemed legit but has some stuff going on I guess. Last I heard he said he would let me know in a few days when he was free again.

My friend and I checked this truck out last week. Seller didn't seem to have his act together.
The odometer reads 200k yet his ad says 170.
He couldn't get it to run since the battery was broken. When I say broken, I mean that the negative terminal appeared to have been hit with a hammer and smashed into the cell below. He ran around for a bit trying to find a battery that would fit but no dice. Bring your own battery and you'll probably drive away.
The windshield is broken. Looks like BB/pellet gun or even 22.
The inside of the rig is a bit mildewy. Looks like there's a leak around the DS slider window.
There's cigarette ash all over the inside of the thing and butts too.
There's no stereo. When we rolled up, some other shady looking guy was literally vacating the scene. The seller said that guy had just taken the stereo out to be fixed.
The front tires are showing cord so don't plan to drive to far.

There's a ton of good stuff about this rig though, if the seller has the title in his name. He told us his wife was out of town and he wanted to sell it before Christmas weekend.
If I had some more available cash, I would've tried to low-ball him and limp the thing out of there. A little elbow grease and this will be a nice rig.

If you want more details, PM me. I had time to crawl around the thing while he was trying find a battery and jumper cables...

Thanks for that update. I myself decided against it, considering I"m coming from Seattle and it would be too much work to take a look at it. When I did speak with him, he did mention that the tires were no good, so driving it back to Seattle would be unreasonable, considering I'd have to get through 2-3 passes. Thanks for the update though. Makes me feel better about not sending him a deposit.

Awesome... Glad someone could get an eye on it and give an honest report. Thanks for the fill in. Glad I didn't wire money and was waiting for someone to lay eye on it. I did pull carfax if anyone wants it. Had 6 previous owners and one incident 10 years ago. No air bag deployed and said it hit a stationary object.
