It pains me to sell the cruiser but my family is in a new "chapter" of our lives and the cruiser isn't being utilized for its build intentions anymore. We have had many great vacations exploring and offroading and made some great friends over the years. But now it's time to put her up for sale. Luckily I'm in no hurry to sell it and will be patient with the process. I hope to find somone in the community who can appreciate the time, effort and tons of cash required over the years to get to this point. It was featured in 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine.

In November 2008 I spent $5k at TLC to have a lot of preventitive maintenance done. The plan was to keep this forever...plans changed. The following is the maintenance done in the last 12 months:
remove and replaced upper and lower oil pans, oil and filter
remove and replace fuel filer and copper gaskets
remove and replace all belts
remove and replace rear rotors, e-brake shoes, clean and lube hardware
complete rewiring of auxiliary electrical
remove and replace trans cooler
Starter was replaced 2 weeks ago
6-28-08
replaced cap, rotor, wires and spark plugs

The truck has never run better...mechanically in great condition

Current stats:
1996 FZJ 80 moonglow
171,000 miles
factory lockers
HG replaced at 124k miles
Supercharged
Dual battery
315 Nitto terra grapplers with 2500 miles on them and spare with no miles
Slee 4" lift
ARB front bumper modified with Warn 12k winch, synthetic rope and IPF HID lights
Kaymar rear bumper modified with protective hoops
metal tech sliders
Hanibal roof rack with IPF lights and awning
38 gallon long range tank with supra fuel pump
LED dome lights
African outback modified drawer system to incorporate 500 watt inverter, extreme aire on board air with 2 1/2 gallon tank, and power outlets
Pioneer head unit with IPOD connection and XM radio
DVD monitors for the kids
Cobra CB

The "bad":
dent in passenger side rear 1/4 panel
Hood and fender flares could use a paint job
Driver seat and passenger seat in fair condition. Middle row is in good shape and 3rd row is in storage.

I'm asking $19,500 or maybe a trade for a 2005+ dual cab Tacoma. Pictures can be viewed at:

email me at deeeja@aol.com with any questions

cheers,

A lot of work went into that rig. Just when you get it "just right" it's gotta go... Looks fantastic. Good luck with the sale. Hope you'll be back. BTW, penalty of $500 for Land Rover content :)

The land rover part wasn't mechanical or electrical so I figured it should be safe :)

David,

I hate to see you go, I hope you come back! This is one of the nicest 80's that I have ever seen/driven/wheeled with. If I were still out there, I would have to give it a good long look.

I've had many great trips with this rig, super clean and maintained. This should go to a great home that will love it as much as David did.

Someone on Mud MUST jump on this rig. David has built one of the nicest rigs I've ever had the pleasure of wheeling with. Well maintained, loving family, pampered SoCal existance and every goodie you'd ever want!!!

Trade? 2 for 1?

Yeah, I don't think they get much better than this one, this rig is reeeeally nice. We want to expand our family and I really want a built 80, I just wish we had the cash to do this. Would you be interested in trading for my 40 and either our Accord or 4Runner? I know you are looking at a newer double cab Tacoma, but.....?

Regardless, best of luck with the sale. That is probably the nicest 80 I have seen.

That is a very tempting offer especially the 40 but I need a pickup.

BTW I'm not going away just moving to a different Toyota and plan on building an expedition platform Tacoma.

No worries, had to ask. If you change your mind, offer still stands. Best of luck on the sale.

this is an amazing 80 that can do it all and offers any and all upgrades and comforts.

If you are looking for a taco let me know. I have an 08 double cab i am selling that is on its way to expo ready. email m if you would like some more info. frankiemarion@gmail.com. Bump for cool cruiser!!

I've been looking at your truck. Once I sell the cruiser I'll know what my available funds are for a Tacoma.
David...

Is that 38 gallon tank an aux tank???
What company is it from??

It's not an aux tank it replaces the main tank. I purchased it from Specter Off Road in So Cal. It was one of the best investments I made.

Does it sit any farther back than the stock one??

I'm guessing it does...don't remember. It does hang down lower but with the lift kit it has never been a problem.

I'll sell it to you for $19,000 and you can have the cruiser for free :)

Mileage is very consistent 11mpg. Note the truck is always loaded. What kind of mileage do you get in yours?
