This FZJ80 has served me and my family well for nearly 8 years, but there are too many SUVs in the driveway and my commute is soon to become longer, so time to get a daily driver that sips less gas. The truck is completely stock and we have taken very good care of it since we purchased it from Carmax in 2001. As to be expected with a 14-year old vehicle, there is some normal wear and tear and it has a few minor issues but would make a great daily driver or candidate for an off-road buildup. I have never taken it off-road and the condition of the truck would suggest that the previous owner(s) did not either. Here are the minor issues:
-Front power seats require manual forward/backward assistance but all other adjustments are power. As far as I can tell, there is a gear that has worn out in the seat tray that drives the outboard rail on each seat. Never bothered me - I set the seats and forget about it.
-Check engine light on...code is PO401 and persists after replacing the upper VSV. I haven't pursued further, as I have had no problems passing emissions.
-Drivers seat has a few tears, as with many of these models at this age (see picture).
-Power steering pump/hose has a small leak - I have been just topping it off every few months but would be open to have it repaired b4 I sell or negotiate accordingly - up to the buyer.
-Third row seat on the passenger side fits loosely on the mounting rail - I think it needs new bushings but have been unable to find any. When in the down position it is secure.
I can't think of anything else to mention, so if you have questions, PM me and I will be happy to answer.
