I have a question about my son's Jeep. He drives a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee and got stuck in some mud Friday night. The mud was deep enough that it got into the jeep and is all over the floorboards. He was stuck but managed to get it out. He drove it home, everything seemed fine.
Then it snowed/sleet that night and all day Saturday. He tried starting the car on Sunday and Monday but it wouldn't start. It's cold enough that the water that got inside is still frozen in the floorboards.
We replaced the starter about a year ago. The battery seems to work. When he tries to start the jeep, it just clicks.
Any help-before we have to tow it and pay lots of money- is appreciated.
Thanks.

Check conection at starter. Mud then freezing may have done somthing at starter. 4L lower right side of engine. Something may have shorted or bad contact no allowing power from battery.

Check the started. Something may be loose or shorting. If mud at floor starter was under water/mud then frozen

Starter ground is shorting. Battery could also be dead. The 'clicking' indicates starter and solenoid are engaging, but amperage is low.

Try jumping -> if starts, it's the battery or alternator.

If not, spray down the dist cap and plug wires with WD40. could be shorting/arching.
