im having trouble with the brakes on my 94 Land Cruiser...First off they are ABS brakes and my real trouble started when it iced over last winter. When i tried to stop on the ice all i heard was a grinding, clicking, sound when i pushed the brakes and i could feel the grinding, clicking, catching through the break pedal as it would jerk up and eventually lock up where i couldnt push it down.
When its not icy i get the grinded, catching right before i come to a compete stop but it doesnt happen every time. So i took it in to get it repaired...They replaced the master cylinder, break pads, and turned the rotors. The grinding problem is still there and now the car barely stops on inclines... especially when in reverse. When I tried to back a boat down the ramp the brakes didnt hold at all. any help would be appreciated..hope you can understand my sort of jumbled description of the problem

There is nothing earth shattering in these things as far as brakes go. Any competant mechanic should easily diagnose the problem. When you brought the truck back to the mechanic who first did the repair about the continued grinding what was his advice?

How is the noise and foot response different from normal abs pedal response? Your description sounds a lot like normal abs to me. An 80 is heavy and you can trigger the abs feedback on dry road if you break late or if the road is rutted and uneven, especially if your tires are bald.

Otherwise, you should take this to a Toyota dealer for a diagnosis.
