1994 80 Series HZJ80R Christmas Sound System Upgrade (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, posting to look for advice for a present for my brother.
I'm chasing some advice or sources to guide speaker upgrades in my brothers 1994 80 series (HZJ80R).
I'll start by saying I've got about $600 (Australian Dollars) to spend on everything.
At the moment he's got a completely stock sound system. From the conversations I've had with him, he wants a sound upgrade that will keep things looking stock, with the only thing he's pretty set on is a single din head unit with Bluetooth.

What I'm wondering is, if I spend maybe $200 on a head unit - recommendations appreciated - what should I spend the remainder on? I was thinking a speaker upgrade for the front set of speakers, but I'm not sure if that is going to make a massive difference.
Also looking down the avenue of a subwoofer and amp, but I don't think he would be to keen on a dedicated box in the back, are there any options for adding something into the panels in the boot?

Only other thing I can think of is doing a full soundproofing job on it, would this be better than getting speakers?

Any advice and links to speakers/head units or kits is greatly appreciated.

There's lots of options available unfortunately it will not retrain the stock appearance.
A) Replace headunit and speakers with aftermarket. Better sound, android auto / apple car play, bluetooth, handsfree phone control, more features, backup camera.
B) Replace just the speakers and keep the stock headunit. You would need to bypass the amp to wire in the speakers. 6.5" speakers in the front, 5.5" speakers in the rear. Limited selection of speakers that fit under the stock speaker covers.
