Hey Everyone,

Finally finishing up a house renovation, its time to get back to work on the Troopy.
The 3F runs great, but It just has no power. I don't mind the bad MPG, but the power to MPG ratio just doesn't make sense.

Im replacing the 3F with a 1FZ-FE CoilPacked engine from a Saudi spec FZJ100 5spd. ( purchased from a forum member.)

Here is the dilemma... Do I keep the swap simple and keep the H55f and Spltcase and just use a FJCO 1FZ to H55f adapter... or do I swap in a H152 ( which I already have NIB sitting in the garage), and source a HF1A , along with all the crossmembers, linkages , labor, etc.

Will I really be gaining anything by upgrading to the new trans _ Transferase? Max tire size will be 35".

Will not be adding a turbo or power adders. I want a smooth running, simple reliable Toyota gasoline engine.

I will not be doing the swap myself. Don't have the time or space. So Labor cost is a concern.

Any Input will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

do what Toyota did. H55 might hold up pretty well, but Toyota spec'ed the other trans, must be a reason.

H55F is ancient.

H152F all the way.
Hello,

x2.

Is the 1FZ from a manual transmission truck? Automatic transmissions use a different ECU.

Get an HF-1A transfer to suit the H152.

H15x/HF-1A is just great. Swap it in and do not look back.

H152 1 million percent.

Dave Stedman has a list of the HF1A T case linkage parts all set to go. I just bought three sets from him.

Get a VDJ78 crossmember and frame to crossmember mounts.

Go.

Try these...verify fitment before purchasing:

HF1A 36120-60351
Gusset, crossmember 51321-60090 x2
VDJ7x crossmember 51202-60270
Boot, shifter 58280-60150
VDJ 7x floor plate 58013-60071 (HDJ 58013-60011 is NLA, VDJ seems to fit)
bolts for shift boot to plate 91673-80616 x6

That should get you started. I just went though this with my 79 builds.
