Selling my 1990 FJ62. I bought it in November of 2006 and have had some great times with it. I have done a lot of work and had a lot of work done. I have linked to the thread I started in the 60 section when I bought it. It presently sits in my garage for the 2nd month untouched. Previously it was driven three days in the last five months. I got an 80 and want to set it up and park it in my garage instead of outside every night. The FJ62 has been stored inside every day since I got it. It has been washed every time it has been wheeled. I got it from a doctor in Illinois who bought it new. He drove it until his son took it off to College in Colorado. When his son graduated college it went on Craigslist.
The good:
Lots of tube work that is preserving the vehicle structurally and is excellent on the trail.
Locked front and rear axles-both lunch box lockers, all new bearings and seals front (including knuckles) and rear, knuckles are in great shape, axles in great shape.
Rebuilt transmission with new torque converter, new trans lines to radiator
Rear brakes 40%-new plumbing.
Front brakes 65% or better,
New universal joints-the good ones.
Engine has less than 5000 miles on the following:
Radiator, fan clutch, replacement hoses, belts, alternator, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter, air filter. Replacement exhaust from manifold back, no cats, one muffler, nothing hangs down under the frame any longer. It is quiet and works great and doesn’t get smashed.
Heystee Parabolic suspension and Bilstein shocks that work awesome together. Truck runs 70mph smooth as well as low speed trail work. Boomerang shackles keep it from reversing.
Scion CD/MP3 radio that works great-speakers need some love but it plays and is better than the voices in my head.
Front bumper set up for Warn 9500TI (most Warns under 10k will fit fine, other brands also)
Newer Yellow top Optima battery on stainless battery tray with marine terminal ends.

The bad:
It leaks oil from most places that these tahings leak oil. It is annoying but not horrible.
It leans to the left, it has since I put the lift in. I could reverse the springs left to right according to Heystee but have not done so.
The water pump seeps, I have a new replacement OE pump that can go with the truck.
Dents, there isn’t a straight panel on the truck. I wheel in Wisconsin and things can be tight.
Rust. It hasn’t rusted any more since I got it, we cut out the bad rockers and lower quarters and put tube in to strengthen the body and it works great. Full sliders.
Rear heat is gone, lines were shot, core was shot.
Spare tire no longer goes underneath, I always carried it in back
Tailgate key cylinder is junk.-have three keys for ign and doors that work.
Passenger rear window was taped shut since I got it. Tape is long gone and it has come down and gone back up but PO said it was “off track” I never cared so I never even pulled the panel.
Other window motors are getting slow, lock actuators are also getting weak but truck does still lock.
Heater isn’t great. I can drive it daily and have between getting other trucks but it isn’t comfortable at below 10 degrees outside. I believe a heater core would fix this. It has an OE thermostat and gaskets, known good heater valve, new hoses, etc. It hardly went out in the winter anyway.
No more power antenna, Napa replacement is much more durable.
A/C and part of emissions system has been eliminated.
Truck fits 35” tires. It is currently on 35x12.5r17 BFG Race Cuts on 17x9 Cragar black wheels. I have Slee 1.5” spacers behind the rims to set them off the springs and body a bit. The set up works great.
This is not a daily driver for most. It is an absolute blast for weekends on the trail or in the dunes. I drove it everywhere it went. It is not restorable. I won’t take 20gojillion pictures of the rust. It is there and you can’t fix it without a new good body. The body that isn’t rusted is dented. The driver’s seat is beat from getting in and out. The frame is straight and solid-no rust out at all.

The pictures show the winch and wheels and tires and a nice CB. I’d like to keep that stuff and put it on the 80 (not the tires) cause I’m cheap and simple and they work. I will put a price of $3500 on it as it sits. As things come off it will get cheaper. I’m not going to part it out, if I had time it would get used more and not sold so I’m not going to wrench on it to get rid of it. No wheels, tires, spacers, winch or CB and I’ll take $2800. The truck is in Oshkosh, WI. I can be contacted through this site. PM me questions, pictures are at the link above. Pics are from the first day I drove it to work to present.

I can help with shipping or come drive it home I can pick you up at air port, train station, etc. My company moves trucks all over the world.

hank,
that was one badass looking ride you had man...I wouldnt mind mine looking that if It does not sell...hmmm...thanks for the ideas man...

LOL, it looks the same if I put the hood back on. Now, if you look around the garage and see all the parts scattered about for it... it is only getting better. TIME is not on my side. Even with an understanding wife who is 100% behind the project, work and such is just nuts. It will run by fall.
