We currently have a 2011 FJ Cruiser NSSE MT as a daily driver and recently bought a 1987 FJ73. The FJ73 is mostly stock and in good original condition. The FJ73 is a manual and has 3F gasoline motor with the OEM canvas convertible top. It also has full doors on the back and A/C. We drove the truck home on highway at 75mph, and the truck has 135,000 kms on the clock. The truck has aftermarket wheels with BFGoodrich AT in 285/70 (which is funny b/c thats what we have on the 2011).

The near term to-do's are:
1) drive it and enjoy it
2) OEM wheels
3) possibly get a roll cage b/c the truck seems dangerous
4) remove some accessory electrical stuff it doesn't need
5) clean the top
6) freshen up suspension and steering
7) and more but don't want to be a bore

Learned about these trucks, and diesel defenders, while on surfing trips in Nicaragua and Costa Rica - never knew these even existed until last year! image.webpIMG_8390.webp IMG_8392.webp

.......1) drive it and enjoy......

At least your priorities are right.......

looks great more pictures of the top and inside dash. Good looking truck...

What country did it originate in?

Yes ,drove one around for few years.Nice colour but I have not seen it before in that year, repaint possibly?

That's probably the cleanest vin / data plate I have ever seen. : )

A great looking rig. Love the color. Factory soft top, so you have the much sought after rear doors where the door tops (windows) unbolt. NICE!

The truck is in south Florida and I'd like to get the following done:

1) preventative maintenance - no loose wires to catch fire, battery tender, headlight replacement
2) roll rage over rear area and possibly front
3) freshen up suspension
4) remove all aftermarket electrical crap (radio, alarm)
5) maybe an exhaust check/upgrade

repaint?! don't think so...

Generally ,the 70 series seemed to share the same colors with the 60 series in the same years. That colour looks like its from a 90s model 70,or maybe different markets got different colour options..
I thought the soft tops had the 2 piece doors.Maybe it had the FRP top originally.
