Up for sale is my 1987 FJ60. I bought this off the original family that bought it new.
I recently purchased it and have been fixing it up. The body is all original and is in overall good shape for its age. It has the original paint and it does not look like its ever been fixed or touched. The only main issue is the rear lower quarters. They can be repaired very easily but I honestly would rather sell it like it is so the new buyers know exactly what they are getting with no surprises. There are a couple other small spots on the rockers and quarters around the fender well, but they don’t appear to be very bad. Some of which is only surface. All the floors, doors and the tailgate seem very solid. There is a dent in the driver’s lower quarter, which could be fixed along with the rust. It could be popped out with no much work. Otherwise its good shape. It just shows your normal rock chips, dings and scratched that are on a truck that was used and driven for 25 years.
All the glass is good except for the front widow. It has some rock chips and small crack and to do it right, it would probably need replaced. I drive it like it is, with no problems, but if your want to fix it, that’s your call. Rims are original and tires are good and have a lot of life in them. It still has the original spare underneath.
Original 2F engine sounds good. 151,300 miles. Its cold-blooded but once it is warmed up it seems to run decent. It has stutter at lower RPMS so i think it needs a carb tune up. I have replaced the fuel pump and filter, plugs and wires, distributer cap and rotor. As for oil leaks, its pretty typical. It could use a valve cover gasket and maybe a few others. I have not got that far yet. Tranny is a 4 speed. Clutch and tranny shift good. 4-wheel drive seems to work good as well. I also just put new front pads/brakes on it. Also has a new muffler. A/C blows cold.
Interior is solid. Typical wear like the dash pad being cracked, and normal wear on the doors and seats. Once again it was used, but honestly is great shape for the age and originality.
Overall the 60 is a good solid all original truck. The only thing that is not standard that I can find is the radio. I tried to accurately describe this 60 without painting it in a negative light. It really is a good vehicle and will make someone a fun 60 series.
