Im having a hard start issue. Once it has been running, no problem. It used to just fire up immediately hot or cold. Would really appreciate some informed direction! Thanks, Mike

RE: 1987 BJ71 13B-T, 24 Volt, starter motor is normal, batteries are fully charged, have great battery connections, has a heat plate in the throttle body,(no glow plugs) that has always worked, but I will check it, no smoke, well a little then it goes away, not much smoke at all, you have to look to notice, seems a white or lightly blue.More info required. As you can see below there is a multitude of reasons why diesels can be hard to start
Is it 12v or 24v?
Is the starter motor cranking at normal speed?
Are your batteries fully charged?
Have you looked at your battery connections?
Do you know if your glow system is working correctly?
Is it smoking bad when it starts? Is so what colour?
Thanks for the information. Im going to check The heat plate and the fuel primer. I think the heat plate is working as I held it on for about 25 seconds and it did start quicker, but still not as quick as before.Another symptom of air in the lines is that it slowly gets worse over time as the leak gets worse.
