I'm guessing that one from Marv is only that 'cheap' because he can't get it registered in CA anymore. It used to be easy. With a CA title and cable lockers it should be worth over $20k.

Doubtful. Its over 25 year old and its a diesel so no CA smog. There shouldn't be any problems getting it regietered here. My guess is its a) the rust b) the year and c) the use. If that thing has been all over the world, then its probably well worn.
Not true. I know at least two people who are sitting on diesel cruisers that have been banned from CA. The BAR looks it up in a book. It has to be from North America and have the original equipment.
A diesel swap titled in another state as a diesel would import without any trouble, as would an imported diesel that was titled as a diesel in Canada or another state. The key is that it has to be titled as a diesel. Many states don't include the fuel type on their titles.
Sorry for the hijack, in any case.

if you're bringing a diesel cruiser into CA from out of country then it's next to impossible to get them reg'd. even if they are more than 25 years old. but they can be brought into other states easily and then into CA.

Means the rust is free, no extra charge.
I went looking and didn't find any on eBayOz with a 12H-T except a 1982 which was swapped in. Looking at US government regs, it appears you can't or at least not easily import a vehicle that doesn't have its original engine in it. So that one's out. Other than that I saw a turbo 2H and bunch of regular 2Hs but no original 12H-Ts. 12V HJ61s are uncommon even in AUS.
Personally, I love RHD. It's what sets it apart, people go nuts for them and they are a hoot to drive. But then I have a Troopy, BJ42LX, BJ74, etc. I'm used to them. So fun to drive!
