For Sale: GREASY RIDER.
TOYOTA LAND CRUISER. Turning 30 years old this September!!!
Dirty on the outside, greasy on the inside....
1986 HJ60. 6 cylinder automatic.
If you want this truck I will drive it to Bellingham if you get my ferry...
342,000 KM and going strong. Had it compression tested a year ago before replacing the entire cooling system, and it is perfect. It'll go 100 000 kms before it needs a rebuild.
There is NO backseat. I gutted it after an oil spill in the truck. The veggie oil storage tank is located IN the truck, allowing you to start up and shut down on diesel as per normal, or just run straight diesel if for whatever reason you can't find veggie oil---only happened to me once in five years that I had to fill the tank to the brim with diesel-I felt angry and annoyed with myself.
Veggie Oil running. 6200 litres through on the system, of which about 3000 litres is on this engine. Works flawlessly. Never had an issue. You simply filter, pour in an auxiliary tank and switch out the filter every 5000km. EASY.
Includes 200+ litres of oil ready to filter and a lesson on how to filter and run the system. Also includes a bunch of expensive sock filters to get you going, and a couple of sources of oil right here on the island.
Recent work includes:
Complete lube of all underparts include leafs springs.
Air intake cleaned
New secondary fuel filter replacement
Front locking hubs replaced
Ball joints
Fuel pump adjustment
New heater in the front seat
New brake lines
New 4 core rad
2 new 27A batteries
One new battery tray
New Rear Cross Member bar
Both sides of the rear frame re-enforced
New Water pump
New Thermostat
New Belts
New Rad Hoses
Patching of both sides of the frame, and a re-do of the floor on the driver's side. Major work totally 2500.00 bucks alone for these things.
Yokohama Geolander 31.75 inch tires
Old Man Emu 3 inch lift with heavy duty rear springs.
ALL oil changes done as needed.
This is a grease machine for one or two people to enjoy max. The back is quite dirty and really is a fuelling station. It makes a great work/hauling truck and a good back roads vehicle on the weekends. This is not a show cruiser.
Spare parts include: alternator and starter motor--these parts are worth 600 used alone.
Comes with yakima roof racks, a very full set of tools and materials for backroad adventuring to keep you going, and a jack all.
The things that need work:
slight slipping of transmission between 2 and 3---it revs between gears. Not serious, but probably should get dealt with if you're doing a long trip. I was told it might need a new transfer case ($300 and I know of one here on Salt SPring) and a new gasket between the oil pan and the transfer case). Nothing major or urgent, but this is the list.
Eventually the muffler will have to replaced. I've had a couple of small patches done on it.
The gas tank has a leak at the top. so just don't fill it full.
It's a great rig.
Asking $5000, OBO. Slightly flexible but the engine, drivetrain, tires, lift kit, veggie kit alone are worth $4000.00 if I pull it apart. I'd rather sell it whole and save the trouble, so I'm slightly flexible on the price, but this is a well cared for truck that is worth 5000.
