1986 FJ 60 located in New Jersey.
190,000 miles. I bought this landcruiser from TLC Cruisers around 8 years ago. I drove it for 2 years the put it in storage for 6 years, moth balls and all. Over the last year I have found time to resurrect the rig. The 60 was originally ordered as a stage II restoration. Full HD Old man emu suspension. Steel wheels with 32" bfg all terrains, full sized spare. It has a Kaymar rear bumper with jerry can and spare tire carrier(both need sand and paint to cherry). An ARB front bumper and 2 driving lights up front. Warn 9000lb winch. Arb air locker in the rear, with compressor and hose for utility, tires. Interior has 2 Recaro SE seats with matching material on the doors, rear bench and the rear panels. Headliner is new and has one tear over one of the rear "c" pillars. It has a 5 speed manual trans. 4:10 gears. The rug is in great condition. Dash has a couple cracks.
Original paint, rock chips up front from highway miles. Trip to Baja when I bought it and hwy miles. It has some rust bubbling up on the bottom edge of the rear window around the washer arm. There was some rust bubbling up on the gutters. Also under the moulding on the lft side front fender there was a small hole and surface rust. All of this rust aside from the new bubbling under the rear window, I sanded treated, painted and primered before storage.
To get it up and running here is my list:
I have de-smoged the truck. Webber sits on top of new exhaust and intake manifold. Exhaust has been cleaned up to accommodate this change, but is not new. Truck has new water pump, thermostat, radiator and hoses back to the rear heater, which works. Full tune up, new plugs, cap/rotor and fuel pump. Once warm you cant feel the idle. Alternator and belts as well. I have refurbished all full lines and truck has new manefre long range tank. All break lines are now steel braided with new front rotors and calipers. Front hubs have been serviced. Spots about the frame where surface rust had appeared over storage have been scraped and painted, as well as spots around bumper and above the fuel tank. Cosmetic, yet keeps things in check. All electronics work as should, lights, speedo. Body has bumps from use. Patina is beautiful.
Things to go, seals to replace:
tiny leak at the timing chain cover.
rear pinion seal.
damp transmission and transfer case.
Front end is loose but completely drivable and the steering box is leaking. Possibly the same problem.
Has a strange intermittent spike in the temp gauge when the car is idle after running. When running, temp is always dead on.
I don't have the time or resources to continue this project. I Adore this car.
$10,000, as is.
