1984 Toyota Land Cruiser HJ60 High Roof
Location: Carson City, NV 89701
Price: $48,000
Mileage: ~270k KM

This 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser HJ60 is a left-hand-drive high-roof example that was imported from Nicaragua to the US under previous ownership and acquired by the seller in February 2018. The truck was sold on BaT in July 2020 and acquired by the seller later that year. The truck is finished in gray with multi-color graphics over patterned cloth and is powered by a 4.0-liter diesel inline-six mated with an H55 five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes 16″ steel wheels, chrome bumpers, sliding cargo-area windows, LED headlights, air conditioning, folding cargo-area jump seats, and a Blaupunkt head unit. This HJ60 is now offered with refurbishment receipts and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Subsequent work under current ownership included a rebuild of the 4.0-liter 2H diesel inline-six with new rod, main, camshaft, and thrust bearings as well as replacement pistons and gaskets. The injectors were rebuilt, and the battery, alternator, vacuum pump, and starter were replaced. The clutch was replaced in July 2021, and the transfer case was resealed. An oil change was performed in April 2022.

The high-roof body is finished in gray with tri-colored decals rimmed in black. Exterior features include LED headlights, a new front bumper, black bumper caps, headlight grilles, H4 headlamps, sideview mirrors, emblems, turn signal lenses, taillamps, mud flaps, and a split tailgate. A ceramic coating was applied to the exterior in April 2021. There are scratches and dents around the body in addition to a dent in the rear bumper.

Gray-painted 16″ steel wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM3 tires. Aisin manually locking hubs are fitted on the front axle. The suspension was refreshed with extended-length shackles, replacement leaf springs, Old Man Emu shocks, and an Old Man Emu steering stabilizer in 2021. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and the front axle was rebuilt in March 2021. The steering knuckles were rebuilt in January 2020.

The cabin is upholstered in striped cloth and gray vinyl over all three rows of seating, including the folding jump seats in the rear cargo area. Staining is pictured on the front seat cushions. Work performed since 2018 included replacement of the windshield, carpets, various interior trim pieces, and installation of a dash cap. Additional interior updates include a Blaupunkt head unit, LED lighting, and replacement shoulder belts.

Instrumentation includes a 160-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The tachometer was replaced in 2021. The six-digit odometer shows 265k kilometers (~165k miles), approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.

Amenities consist of factory air conditioning, a 12-volt outlet, push-button four-wheel drive, and an AM/FM radio.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through an H55 five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.

Recent service and repairs include a vehicle safety check, brake service and flush, replacement of the intake tube, fabrication and repair of the rear sway bar, centering of the steering wheel, greasing and checking all fittings, complete oil service, diagnosis of no-start and fuel issues, replacement of the EDIC, and repair of miscellaneous wiring damaged by rodents. The brake master cylinder is recommended for future replacement.

Further parts and services added include a brake flush kit, oil service kit, miscellaneous shop consumables and hardware, an EDIC control module with associated parts, miscellaneous electrical and wiring components, an oil pressure switch, sway bar link hardware, an air intake hose, and testing fuel.

In February 2024 parts added included a brake flush kit, oil service kit, miscellaneous shop consumables and hardware, an EDIC control module with associated parts, miscellaneous electrical and wiring components, an oil pressure switch, sway bar link hardware, and an air intake hose.

Additional work involved the fabrication of parking brake brackets, welding, parking brake configuration and equalizer install, and replacement of fuel and service fluids. An OEM Toyota shoulder belt kit, tach signal sender, and new tachometer were also installed.

Warranty-related tasks included checking HAC effect on fuel mixture, exhaust adjustments, tachometer installation and adjustments, steering wheel centering, topping off engine oil, re-securing fuel door release handle, and greasing relay rod ends.

I knew this truck when it was in OKC. It’s a real truck and I believe to be really nice. I would also be a player mid 20s. 32 may be a real ask but 48 is a moonshot

I love that it is from Nicaragua. Has a good story.

I assume this isn't available since the owner has not responded to any of the questions. I would be a buyer but nothing has been responded too.
