Hello all, I have up for sale my 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ70 (Heavy Duty/SWB/HT) CDN edition diesel (5 speed manual left hand drive). I purchased the truck in June of 2013 from the original owner and have repaired all the typical land cruiser rust problems and other small but significant basic mechanical things. Both the driver and passenger floor panels have been replaced, painted, rust coated. There was some fairly significant rot at the time so decided to replace both. The back floor panels are in great condition. The frame got a complete professional restoration and patched in weak areas, flushed and coated with rust protectant. The floors and frame cost me a lot so need to ask, close to 3,000, and without it the truck would not be on the road today/up for sale. Again, it was professionally done not by some backyard mechanic etc. Two new batteries have been installed along with new terminals. All fluids have been changed and checked. New headlight and wipers along with a brand new set of BFG All Terrain KO's (33" on 15" rims) that were put on in December. These tires are graded for snow terrain and make a great all terrain/all season tire. I had a water leak fixed that was coming in through the wiper valley/firewall (professionally fixed), however, some water still seems to be coming through the air vent when it rains heavy. Interior is in good condition, small fabric hole in driver seat, shock loaded seats work great and are a hit when driving with others. The heater works but the temp controls do not, it is set to hot however, I roll down the window in the summer, turn on the heat in the winter and it works just fine. Radio and CD player work, small dash speakers are actually not bad for acoustic records etc. I play Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush and it sounds great, along with Into the Wild OST. Horn works and is wicked, high beams work etc. Just cleaned out the rubbers of rear windows (dirty and grime) so windows run better now. All doors open and close great, truck starts in cold with no problems at all. Block heater works great, started this truck in -30 weather when my dad’s new ford pickup wouldn’t. Manual glow plugs also run great, 4x4 runs smooth with wheel locks. Front aftermarket lights are amazingly bright: high beams and 3 bumper lights literally light up the whole road and tree tops. Also put in new OEM rubber air intake hose that I got from BC. The truck is really great on fuel in my opinion. Had the truck Krowned/undercoated before the snow came, I have also manually applied oil and rust protectant numerous times to underbody and wheel wells etc. Truck has old man emu shocks, steering stabilizer, and is 5" lifted. I love this truck, as would anyone, and I am only putting this ad up due to the fact that my priorities have changed and need to put my money in other areas at this time in my life. The price is firm, and I am advertising honestly. I do not need emails saying the price is too high, as I believe it is honest and fair and is a lot less than what I have put into the truck to certify it / revive it. I only want to sell this truck to the right person who understands the individualistic qualities a CDN BJ70 holds. The truck is very easy to work on with little to no mechanical exp. For basic maintenance, I will include my Toyota manual that I found online that is very useful. Oil and oil filter was changed 2500km ago, new fuel filter 200km ago, and new transmission mount that I almost forgot to add. Some negatives are: yes, the truck has some Bondo in areas, minor rust in areas, no it is not in mint condition and the rear bumper also needs some work; I was going to make one out of a hard wood and stain it which I think would be a great first project to tackle and would make this truck your own. If you are interested you really need to look at the truck for yourself and take it for a spin. Like I said the truck is by no means mint but on the other hand it is by no means done, but body maintenance are a must with these things of course. I am in for an honest clean sale. There is 270,000on the engine. Thanks and please email for info, JD.

Truck is located in Muskoka, Ontario. I have all receipts of mechanical work.

$8500

What does certified mean? Not familiar with this term when applied to a private party sale. Might be useful to point out the areas that have received bondo.

In Ontario to put a vehicle on the road it has to be 'CERTIFIED' or safetied by a garage licensed to do so. This was the governments way of keeping crappy vehicles off the road. There are ways around this though and some unscrupulous types will sell certification papers at a premium without even looking at the vehicle.
The certification lasts 60 days ( or maybe it's 30 days?) before you would have to get another piece of paper.
The certification basically checks that all lights work, tires in roadworthy shape, no cracks in windshield that obscure view, wipers, horn, brakes and no major rust issues but is up to the garage doing the inspection as they sign off on it. Vehicle doesn't even need an engine though to be certified.:steer:

Opinion has nothing to do with it. It's easy to import this truck into the US. But, chances are it's long gone. Maybe shoot the guy an email from the link provided.
