I started back on the rear structural work a bit today. Waiting for brake and steering parts to trickle in. Broke out the bender (has been dormant for at least 8 years) and bent up the main hoop and tacked it in. I'll start on the pieces that connect to it tomorrow. I think I figured out how I'll tie in the door bars. I never thought about how the car will look with the top down. I kinda like the look of the roll bar. I already gave up on it being anything close to a sleeper.
I mocked up the brake/clutch pedal assembly to get a feel for how much surgery will be needed on the fire wall. Threw in the gas pedal just for giggles.
Started cleaning all the metal work under the hood. Lots of standing seams that need to be cut out and welded up. More holes than I care to count. I'll be in there for a bit.
Working on getting the MCs mounted. The mount is a Wilwood product and sandwiches the firewall sheet metal. I am installing it backwards in the fire wall. If installed as designed the MCs must be remote because the mount is offset enough so that the reservoirs will not fit on the MCs. Backward they fit well.
Making a little progress. Flash rust has been a killer with humidity in the 70-high 80% range. It smoothed out pretty well, filled 30 plus holes of varying sizes. MCs installed with reservoirs. Getting started on the under dash support for the pedal set.
