Just like the one I had 25 years ago, little frame repair and body work to do and then the BJ42 comes off the road for some love... Factory radio and dash are mint, no cutting of anything and thats the way it will stay.

I do however want to maybe bobb the rear box like Marlins rig..

Just picked up a half tub from a guy in Van, he was in the process of rebuilding his 1983 BJ42 and lost steam..Jimbro and I shot over, he got a new factory style soft top and rear doors and I got the tub..

Pretty nice factory stampings one the rear floor and wheel wells..I think it came out of Columbia..

Nice, that thing is so original. That's a really rare find these days. Let me know if your looking for any little parts. I still have a few kicking around.

Will do Graham..

Bet you cringed when I mentioned shortening the box...:(

Hey guys, my buddy has a 2wd version of this truck and I might have access to it. Apparently it's been in the family for awhile. His dad had it painted this color just a few years ago...interesting.

Is there any demand for the 2wd out there? Can one convert to 4x4 easily with one of these? Just wondering if it's worth pursuing or not. I think he said the year was '82 as well, but not certain. IIRC, he said it was a 5spd. Might need a new master brake cylinder though.

Reminds me of Magnum PI. HaHa! Where is this truck? Looks good. Uh, except the mirrors.

Hey Rob, are those 60 style mirrors original? I have RH side if you want if they are.
I might have a chrome bumper for that too.

Those are factory mirrors, same as the 60s...cheers.

Going to build a front bumper thanks...

Been looking at plasma machine..

The 60 mirrors aren't factory, they are a little longer than the pickup one. but they do bolt on. I put a set on my brown truck and they worked but where barely able to be adjusted properly.

I stand corrected Graham......

Thanks

Congrats Rob! Those are really cool little trucks. Can't wait to see how it turns out. They are really climbing in value now too...

Tanks GPTsport...;) for the props on new truck...

Lots of people would think me a little silly, but the 2lt is in the idea build in the future.

Ive had an 81 Long box 4x4 (first truck)
- Then an 83.... Both were Yukon trucks and had no rust and super low Kms, but they were Yukon mining road kilometers. The 83 I re skinned the box and painted it up nice. Did a V8 and 700r4 swap..... I now hate american pushrod V8's and loathe carburetors. I learn't a lot from that little truck but never again will I pollute japanese engineering with American blasphemy. lol.

I always get a kick out of the idea of you in one of these little trucks and Jay in a first gen 4 runner....Sardines in a can..

Damn that 700r must of wheel awsome..

when did the bumper fall off? :hillbilly:

just corner cap....anyone who has ever owned a toyota with a chrome bumper probably knows the feeling....rusty hardware
fell off on the I-5 on my way to seattle!
