1982 FJ60 - 179,xxx original miles; less than 40,000 miles on complete engine rebuild - Old Town, ME - asking $4500

I have posted a craigslist add with a dozen photos. I will try to add photos to this thread once I figure out how to resize them... you'd think I'd know by now...

This cruiser has been in the family for ~25 years, and its history is well known. It has its original 2F and 4-speed manual. The motor was professionally rebuilt in 1997, at approx. 135,000 miles. Rebuild included bored cylinders, ground crankshaft, new camshaft, new pistons, new lifters, etc. All Toyota replacement parts. Also replaced at that time a long list of misc. parts, including clutch, radiator, oil pump, fuel pump, ... I have many receipts, but not all (not completely organized at the time). Factory emissions equipment was also removed. More recently, I have installed a Weber 38, Specter Off Road dual header, Man-a-Fre fluid heat riser, K&N air cleaner assembly and filter, and PIAA fog lamps. This FJ60 runs very, very well.

The interior is nearly entirely original, save for an Alpine CD player and Pioneer front speakers (no rears), and a vacuum gauge installed under the dash. Interior is in very good condition. Paint is reasonably good, though quite faded. There is considerable rust on rocker panels, along the rear wheel wells, and on the tailgate. The frame is rusted, but sound.

I had always intended to fight the rust and keep this cruiser indefinitely, but finally have to admit that I do not have the money and/or job security to do it anytime soon. I had the vehicle inspected by a body shop owner (one with proven rust experience - this is Maine, after all) about a year and a half ago, and at that time, he believed that frame and body rust was perfectly manageable. He thought the rust load was not bad for 1982, but again, this is Maine, and he has seen a lot of rust. My plan was to replace the tailgate, media blast and coat the frame, and either patch the body rust or swap the tub (one was available in NH at the time). I'm sure this is far from the best cruiser for full restoration, but a moderate investment to control rust would give you many years of use. And I wanted to be the one using. Oh well.

It was driven more or less daily until mid-summer, and less frequently since then. Tires need replacing relatively soon – they have some tread left, but are aged. Also included are some parts not shown in the photos (original hub caps, mud flaps, rocker panel trim, skid plates). I also have a Holley 350 that was installed prior to the Webber, and I would be happy to throw that in as well. I prefer the Webber, but the Holley was completely functional when replaced.

I am willing to accept a reasonable offer. I do not need to squeeze every possible dollar from this sale. This Landcruiser has given me 20+ years of memories, and I honestly will be sad to see it go at any price (well, maybe not any price :).

I'm new to the forum, not sure how the PM works for me just yet. It would probably be safer to email me with further inquiries: kasey_erin@yahoo.com
