Complete Vehicle Description: I imported this truck from Canada in 1999. Unlike a gas FJ-42, this 5 speed manual transmission BJ-42 uses a diesel (3B) motor. Also unlike the FJ series Cruiser, this Cruiser uses two 12 volt batteries in series making it a 24 volt system. In short, this is a rare truck and originally not available for sale in the U.S. The truck was in good condition when I bought it (attached photo) and my intent was to make it like new it from the frame up. The business I hired to rebuild it failed before completing the project. I no longer have the resources to do it myself. I am selling it partially restored with over $8,000 in new parts that have not yet been installed. For a complete list of the parts and current pictures of the truck, please contact me

Gus

I have a .pdf of over 100 pictures I can send you. Email me at dontlikespam1@verizon.net and I'll be happy to. The guy I hired to restore the truck has pretty much disassembled it, and replaced the back quarters, door panel, and bed. The new parts are still in the boxes. I also purchased 5 new tires for it, those come with the sale.

Gus, I am new to the forum (unfortunately just here to sell my truck) so I don't know all the ins and outs. Please give me your email and I will be happy to send you photos and more information. I'd be happy to make arrangements for you to see the truck. I'll probably schedule one visit so everyone who is interested can see it at the same time. Thanks

I will be in Philly next week and I am looking for a 40. Shoot me a pm with your contact info so I can drop by and check out the rig

Niceguysanti - Please send me your email so I can shoot you current pics and provide the on hand parts list. Unfortunately, it's not possible to just show up and see the truck. The guy who defaulted on my contract to restore it won't permit it. I will organize a date that is convenient for interested parties and the guy who owns the garage where the truck is located. I can't piecemeal guys to his business to see it unfortunately. Hope that's ok! Thanks, Joe

Well it depends on your perspective lol! I don't want to sell the truck but I don have the resources to finish the frame up restoration. The guy I hired left me hanging. I suspect it needs another $10k primarily in labor to get it done - money I don't have. If I had a garage I would do the work myself but I live in a townhouse. So too good to be true idunno. Drop me an email and I'll send photos and a list of the new parts on hand with the truck. Use dontlikespam1@verizon.net. Thanks!

Smells like fish to me. What's his number? I suppose he won't answer the phone either?

And it's all pretty painted with armor all on the tires, but it needs another $10k to finish? WTF?

Sorry it smells like fish to you. And actually, yes, before the restorer defaulted on the contract and changed businesses, I had a hard time getting anyone to answer the phone. If there's a question or you would like additional info or current photos or even to see the truck, pls email or call. Have a great Thursday!

Joe,
Curious.
You contracted and paid a company to work on YOUR vehicle.
The contract was not completed and the company went out of business.
Your truck is still sitting at a defunct shop in Philadelphia.
And you cannot go get it and show it to prospective buyers without upsetting a bankrupt mechanic.
Why can't you remove YOUR property and put it in a storage unit?
You did pay for all the work completed so far.
Is there a lien on the vehicle that needs paid?

Good questions Bear. When I drove my truck to PA and dropped it off, I had a job and money to spend on a frame-up restoration. Now im unemployed and i don't. I never imagined the restorer would default on the contract. I took the guy to court and they ruled that the guy had breached the contract. The truck is currently stripped down, partially restored, and not drivable. Its an incomplete project in storage inside. I own in free and clear and it makes no sense for me to pay for storage space here (in VA where I live) when it's fine where it is. The business now does Rhino Linings; he quit the restoration business. I hope I answered your questions. If you are interested as a potential buyer, pls call or email. Thanks!
